Sorry, no Region 1 news but it looks like Region 2 is getting a nice new version of Lost Highway:

Lost Highway Region 2 Final Specs from MK2 and No Industrial Symphony

It appears that MK2 has released the final Specs for the Lost Highway DVD. Although Industrial Symphony was dropped from the release specs, this DVD will be the best that Lost Highway has ever looked or sounded. Apparently there were some problems securing the rights to Industrial Symphony. Along with a new HD Transfer of the film and the original 5.1 mix transfered in DTS, below are the details on the 2nd bonus materials disc from dvdrama.com:

New interview with David Lynch from 2005 (16 mn)
Making-of (10 mn)
Interview with David Lynch when the movie came out (5 mn)
Interview with Bill Pullman (4 mn)
Interview with Patricia Arquette (4 mn)
Interview with Robert Loggia (3 mn)
EPK (Electronic Press Kit) (7 mn)
Trailer (3 mn)
Booklet

The release will also come with a limited edition hologram cover.

Can the Region 1 be far behind? Probably.

on a related note, david foster wallace wrote an interesting article which was originally published in esquire and subsequently published in his essay collection "a supposedly fun thing i'll never do again". this is a pretty entertaining read about dl in general and the filming of lost highway specifically.

I'd say the chances of that is about 100%.

It makes absolutely no sense for IS#1 to be included with Lost Highway. None. Wild at Heart, I can see the logic why it might have been included with it because Cage and Dern are in IS#1, but why on earth would a studio thing "Hey, lets release this completely unrelated with with Lost Highway!?"

Don't get me wrong, it'll be cool if/when IS#1 finally comes to DVD, I just can't see why a marketing department would ever release it with an unrelated feature.

Let's just hope that IS#1 makes it to DVD in some form.

Let's just hope that a new edition of Lost Highway comes to Region 1.

Would it be woth waiting for this to happen or is it worth picking up this Region 2 version??

No forced French subs, right? What about in the bonus features?

Not only the subs will not be forced but this will be a print that Marin Karmitz and Co. have restored frame-by-frame. The fact that this will be a Hi-Def-sourced print of the film also should appeal to quite a few. With this said, Yes this should be the version to get as MK2 are easily one of the few studios to outperform Criterion when it comes to "classic" films.
Some specs here:

Never was a big fan, but I have to thank the film and Lynch for turning me on to Rammstein-one of my favorite bands ever!

You mean an R1 Widescreen release. There's already an R1 P&S release.

I'd pick up the WS version, probably. VERY strange movie, but worth a revisit.

Not possible. He doesn't own the rights to it.

I wish I could say this has a release date in the USA, but I can't. Fans patience has been tested, thank god for the other regions this has been released in. This needs to be released, a must own film for any Lynch fan or dvd collector.

Don't have HD-lite. I would love to see this and appreciate in Hi-Definition. I bet it would knock me off my seat, it would look that sweet.

LOST HIGHWAY aired on the Universal High Definition channel this past week and it looked great. Original aspect ratio. Picture was gorgeous. Hopefully the DVD won't be too far off.

Drool, drool...Someone posted here a while back that Lynch actually has finished supervising a transfer of this, and the only thing holding up is rights.
