I don't buy TV on DVD unless I've already seen the show, so my blind rentals (Office UK, Office US, Freaks and Geeks) don't count. And my age makes some of my "blind" buys unfair (Apocalypse Now, Dazed and Confused, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas). I guessInfernal Affairs, Requiem for a Dream, and Tombstone are my most legit good blind buys.

My best would have to be Casablanca. I went out and bought it, with the intent of starting it while i did some laundry and then finishing it that night after i got home from plans id made with friends...I blew my friends off because I just couldn't stop watching it. And to this day it's still one of my favorite films.

I've purchased several Criterions recently as blind buys and they were all amazing.

Seven Samurai
Yojimbo
The Third man

(I've also blind bought Army of Shadows and Sanjuro but I haven't had a chance to watch them yet.)

The best movie that I'd never seen when I bought it was Requiem for a Dream (my #5 favorite movie).
The bes blind-buy I've made in terms of price was Woody Allen's Manhattan for $1.48.

Without question - Babylon 5: Seasons 1-5

For a movie, a little harder to determine. Probably Leon: The Professional.

Latest excellent blind buy - Interstate 60. (Surprise, another Gary Oldman movie)
