An ad in this week's Home Media Retailing (formerly Video Store Magazine) showed the following image for the cover. Looks a little nicer than the earlier one posted. It still may not be the final one since the small print at the bottom says "Artwork subject to change".

That's a little better as far as Andy Lau's face is concerned, but Zhang ZiYi's body is weirdly proportioned. Look how tiny her hand and arm are compared to her gigantic head.

i'm pretty sure thats the movie poster, and companies generally like to have different cover art then the poster, so i think we'd be more likely to see the original cover art

I don't think that is anywhere near the final cover-art.

How did this compare to Hero and CTHD?

Depends on who you talk to. Some people won't even compare it to either of those films because they think it's horrible. While others will say it's easily the better of those 3. I love all 3. I'd put HOFD in the middle, better than Hero, but not as good as CTHD.

bah! HERO was an excellent film. From what i've heard, HoFD is a film that is basically a CTHD rip-off. HERO had an original storyline, with enough action and plot twists to keep the viewer entertained throughout. HoFD seems like little more than a half-assed follow up.

Its mainly boils down to personal taste, but I'd choose Hero over HOFD. For me, HOFD was seriously hurt because it was not finished properly due to the untimely death of Anita Mui. The ending as it stands seems overly contrived and incomplete, which is of course, completely understandable.

That is pretty much the order I would place them in. Though Hero is absolutely gorgeous to look at, I didn't get as emotionally involved with it as the other two.
Also, I enjoy the music better on HOFD than CTHD.

I've got The Musa-Warrior coming in the mail, how does that stack up to these three? If I'm not mistaken, Musa Warrior probably compares better to Warriors of Heaven and Earth than Hero, HoFD or CTHD.

The actress died before her part was finished filming, so they didn't get to shoot all of her character's scenes to finish off the storyline. As it is now, she just sort of disappears from the movie and we have to assume what happens to her.

I don't really think this is such a detriment. Her character was not the primary focus of the movie. I like the ending as it is.

that actress is Anita Mui. She is well known in the US for her role in "Rumble in the Bronx" as Elaine, the lady who buys Jackie Chan's uncle's supermarket.

Save your money. This movie is not that good. Wait until it hits the bargain bins. Just my opinion after having seen Hero and Crouching Tiger.

Was Anita Mui the "Madam" of the brothel? I've been trying to place her face but can't seem to.

Song Dandan played the madam.

HOFD has more mass appeal but it certainly isn't better than Hero.
I sometimes felt like I was watching a stylized afternoon soap and Andy Lau's acting was mediocre. But it did have flashes of brilliance, like the Echo dance for example.

Ok, if Anita Mui was not the Madam what role did she play in HOFD?

She was cast as Nia, the leader of the FD. That's probably why Nia's face is kept hidden.
