this is a timeless classic.
Talk about throwing the word "classic" around so dangerously. Yes, this film is very funny! But timeless classic it most assuredly is not. The film definitely shows it's age.

Having said that, I'll be picking it up.

I guess it just depends on how you define classic, becuase I also consider it a classic movie.

Obviously it does. Just because a film is funny, doesn't make it a classic in my book. Far from it. I'd be more inclined to agree if you said Young Frankenstein or Blazing Saddles were classics. They are much, much better films than Spaceballs.

Just got back from picking this up, and I wanted to give a major to MGM for shrinkwrapping the whole thing, slipcase and all! It's about time someone was smart enough to just shrinkwrap the whole thing, instead of just the keepcase!

EDIT: Didn't notice this until I was logging it into 'profiler, but they still cut a hole for the UPC, even though the whole thing was shrinkwrapped. This doesn't bother me, but I know it does some of you, so I thought I'd pass the word.

Gonna have to wait for a price drop on this one. No reason to get it just yet. Didn't like it enough to pay $20

You don't have to. I got it for $16.84 at WalMart today.

And I too consider it a classic.

No Wal Marts in NYC. And I wouldn't consider paying more than $10 for this movie.

I'm with you... I have a feeling that this will have a pretty drastic price drop in 6-12 months. I can wait.

Wish my local Walmart had it for this price. Screw it looks like BB for $17.99 on the way home from work. The cover is nice and I agree with Shagrath the shrink wrap around the slipcover is nice. Love this movie and bottom line is that 20 bucks is well worth it for this great classic movie!

Agree, classic.
Agree, don't want to spend more than 15 for it. I've been buying a lot fewer dvd's recently--three in the past 2 months, if you count three preorders, one of which will likely be cancelled as a price mistake.

Just picked up my copy, but since the slipcase is shrinkwrapped there was no way for me to see if the damn security stickers were touching the cover art. Sure enough the stickers were touching the top part of the art and I peeled it off VERY slowly, but it still took some ink off the top edges. Grrrrrr. Sounds anal I know. Just FYI, you might want to take off the shrinkwrap and look at the case before you leave the store in case someone is more anal than me.
