I have the Extreme version and I notice that parts of the screen text are cut off. For instance, when the T1000 is looking up John Connor's name on the police car computer, the image doesn't show the "C" in the name. Only "Onnor". Also, the scene where the Terminator is walking through the bar parking lot scanning the vehicles and it shows the computer eye readout, the first word of the text is cut off on the left side of the screen and the last letters on the right side. Just to be sure, I tried both versions of the film on the dvd (extended and theatrical) and tried switching my tv widescreen modes. Nothing helped. Has anyone else noticed this? I don't remember it being this way in the theaters.

It looks like it's just the Extreme Edition with separate discs for the theatrical and Special Edition cuts (as opposed to the Region 1 release, which seamlessly branches between the two). Still no DTS, unfortunately. If someone could match up the Extreme transfer with a DTS encoding of the remixed Extreme soundtrack, that would really be something.

Is the 5.1 EX track on the Extreme Edition different to/better than the 5.1 EX on the Ultimate Edition then?

Wouldn't be too much trouble.

There were four variations of the T2 "edition" releases. (appreciate if there were others aside from these in "R1 format" )
The two at the left are the ones that carries Metal/Tin Sleepcase
2disc for T2:Extreme Edition (OOP)
Single Disc (DVD-18) for T2:Ultimate Edition (OOP)
The two at the right are the "re-released" version in a silver slipcase carboard.
2disc for T2:Extreme Edition
2disc for *Silver double disc alphacase T2:Ultimate Edition (OOP)
Please be informed that the T2:Extreme Edition sold at Walmart/Bestbuy or any retail store at present that carries a price tag range from $5.99 to $9.99 are the "re-released" version in a silver slipcase carboard.

I have also seen both version released without any slipcover, and the Ultimate edition was released as both 2 disc and flipper....so plenty of variations on those.
plus the original release was in both a snapper and a keep case...so T2 is treading close to Evil Dead double dip status

Also, the UE in the metal cover was available as a DVD-18 and also as 2 DVD-9s.

Okay I'm just going to comment on this wondeful dvd.
Terminator 2 used to be my favorite movie and is still in the top 5,and this was the 1st DVD I ever bought along with Mummy:UE & Hannibal:SE. Terminator 2:UE is one of the best dvds of all time, tho there should be yet another release for it with a Feature-Length Documentary. Extreme Edition was ok,nice features and commentary but pales in comparison to UE. Just IMHO
Heres to hoping for a ...

eluxe Edition(with all the features already available,DTS,and a new Feature Length Doc)
and also to a ...
Terminator 3.5

This is one movie I'm tired of buying new editions of.
T2 was the first LD I ever bought. Then came the Special Edition LD. Then the regular edition DVD. Then the UE. Then the EE. Yeesh. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll be buying the inevitable HD-DVD/Blu-Ray edition, just because I've bought the movie so many times already.

Looked a week ago and I saw a couple there for $25.99, but I didn't need it that bad. I stopped by the nearby one today and there were two for $12.99... picked one up. I've been meaning to get it. Cardboard slipcovers, no metal.
