Terminator 2: Judgement Day - Ultimate Edition

I have been looking for this particular edition of Terminator 2, but have been unable to find a copy. Is this edition out of print? Are there any places I can order it from? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Is this the metal case edition? Probably OOP since they released the Extreme edition (or whatever edition was the newest)

EDIT:
Yeah, I checked EBAY....pretty darn cheap on there.

I still have the metal case edition....no need for the Extreme one IMO

bboisvert 01-21-05 01:42 PM

Yes, it's out-of-print... replaced by the 'extreme' edition. (Although the many, many extras are not carried over.)

You can find this used pretty easily and cheaply via eBay. I also see multiple copies of this at just about any store that sells used DVD. I think a lot of people dumped them for the Extreme DVD. I personally have both.

Try Borders. Some stores still have the UE version on the shelf. Priced at around $24. Use the 25% off printable coupon which is good until 1/23 (check the bargains forum).

Try some used shops, I've seen quite a few used ones in stores.

There's also plenty used at Amazon for under $10. Check around your area, I still see both new and used.

Thanks a lot. Does anyone happen to have an ISBN for it? I just want to make sure that I am buying the exact edition.

Fok 01-21-05 06:15 PM

Is it worth having both? how good are the extra's on the extreme version?

that's not the correct one is it? doesn't the UE have the cardboard slipcase that looks sheen silver metal (almost like the "Robocop" Criterion), that's the one i got?

exm 01-21-05 06:49 PM

T2 UE (Metal Case) ISBN: 0-7840-1730-1

The extras on the extreme version are OK (not great, not bad). I personally think the extras are much better on the ultimate edition -- but, then again, I was a big fan of the Laserdisc... and most of the extras are a direct port from that.

However, the picture quality for the extreme version is a noticable improvement over the ultimate, even on a shitty TV. That's why I have both -- extreme to watch the movie, ultimate for the extras. The fact that the extreme edition also has additional, unique extras is just a bonus.

You can get the Extreme Edition for about $10 shipped at DDD. And you can find the Ultimate Edition for under $10 used at tons of places. This is one case where I was happy to double-dip and keep both. :)

I agree. This is the only movie I have chosen to double-dip on and kept the old version.

I OWN BOTH
anyway to watch the extreme but hear the DTS from the Ultimate?
I tried it on my computer it was fun. and had the DTS playing next to it. :D

TNAJason 01-21-05 09:02 PM

I also own both. Favorite movie of all-time.... Get both. It'll prob end up $25 shipped. So get both. They both rule. But if you pick one pick UE.

I have both too

The Extreme disc doesn't have DTS, but the DD 5.1 is a brand new remix enhanced for home theaters and is arguably better than the old DTS mix.

Mike Lowrey 01-21-05 10:28 PM

I have both as well. Watched the Hi-Def version on the PC. Pretty cool, but wished it was the Special Edition. Have yet to watch the new remastered version.

The problem I have is with my Ultimate Edition. The feature about the Terminator 3D Universal ride breaks up and freezes.

natevines 01-21-05 10:53 PM

I own both also, but if I had to choose one to keep, it'd be the extreme. Clearly the ultimate wins in extras, but I've already watched all of them and there's nothing more to do with the DVD. Whenever I want to check out scenes or something, I use the extreme for the incredible image quality and sound.

The DD on the Extreme and even on the Ultimate sounded better than the DTS on the Ultimate, but maybe that's just me.

chileorgullo 01-22-05 11:04 AM

you're probably right, I'm just a DTS whore or something
that's the only reason I haven't dumped my UE yet.
a lot of the extras from the UE are in the EE you have to find them in the Enhanced mode, like an alternate ending

QuiGonJosh 01-22-05 01:07 PM

The UE has so much more stuff than the EE. The 3 doc's, all the text, artwork, commentary, alternate extended cut, etc. None of that on the EE, but the EE has the Cameron commentary and T2 HD. I have both of course. ;)

critterdvd 01-22-05 04:00 PM

My Wherehouse usually has a copy or two for abotu $10

Snowmaker 11-05-05 11:03 PM

Since its been almost a year, what's the final verdict in the UE vs. the EE?

I have the UE, but am considering also picking up the EE since its so cheap now.

eau 11-06-05 12:30 AM

EE for the video, UE for the audio and extras.
