Maybe they're transitioning the series to ultimately remake the TV show. It can turn the corner to "it's so bad it's good" and leave "it's so bad I want to pluck my eyes out" behind.

I don't have that big of a problem with Batman Forever. Except maybe the redesign of the suit but thats it. Batman & Robin was really bad. Batman on ice, Batman's credit card, Mr. Freeze in general were really just bad. The only thing that saves it from being terrible is Alicia Silverstone's bee stung lip goodness.

I'm gonna buy the box set for sure, as the other 3 movies are worth it. And maybe if Batman Forever gets recut it might be a little bit better.

Well, I said Batman 3 and 4 weren't quite that bad. But, in all honesty, Batman 3 and 4 were terrible. I know others are going to differ in opinion. But, the acting was just so bad; so over-the-top; I thought 3 and 4, if anything, were simply mocking Batman and making fun of it. In fact, I think Batman 2 was pretty bad (but a little better). Batman 3 and 4 were good examples of Hollywood can destroy movies --- no substance -- just throw a bunch of hot names at the time into it and create a big production. From what I have seen, I am quite happy that "Batman Begins" will NOT be of this same tone.

I'm only interested in the first movie which I think was well done, overall. However, I'm holding onto my current version just in case Warner makes this re-release a "pig with lipstick" but just altering the compression a little and adding a disc of extras.

Sorry, I must've misread. I was thinking that you were saying B&R was worse than Superman 4, and man would that be hard. Now that I've read again, that was clearly not the case. I guess in all honesty, the fourth film in each franchise is equally terrible, but at least B&R had some production value to go with its crap story and crap acting.

I'd give Forever the nod over Supes 3 any day. As I said earlier, I think it's the most balanced of the bunch.

I thought I'd be the only one holding onto the VHS for that reason. I used to watch the tape as a kid all the time. There was one summer where I think I watched it virtually every night, so those commercials became like part of the actual movie for me. Alfred shilling Diet Coke was pretty funny. Perhaps we'll get that on the DVD, but no chance on the Bugs/Daffy thing since it was shilling merchandise that probably hasn't been made in over a decade.

Haha same here. Instead it's just continued debate over the merits of Batman 3 and 4, which I never thought could even be debated until this thread.

Now Superman 3 and 4 have been thrown into it? Yikes!

It would be neat if they included the Batman-Onstar commericals as extras.

It would be neater if they lowered the price when doing so. I don't pay for advertising.

But the studios should pay you?

I sold mine on ebay about a month ago for $9 each. I bought them for $7.50 at Wal-Mart.

I'm pretty sure I got the first 3 in the www.reel.com heyday and probably paid less than $5 each for them. I think B&R was a Columbia House enrollment.

So I probably made a small profit too...

Is it safe to assume these will be new transfers, or do we get another "Heat:SE" type of thing?

Wait, I thought the news was good on the "Heat" transfer. And I hope to GOD there is a new transfer on the original.

"Heat: SE" contains the same transfer as the original; most reviewers say there is a bit of an improvement in the compression, and, as a result, the SE looks slightly better. But, it's essentially the same as before.

Compression can make all the difference. The transfer can be state of the art, but if it's compressed like crap, you'll be watching a pixelshow.

True, but in the case of Heat, the difference between the new version and old version is very minor. Again, I just hope this won't be the case with Batman.

Damnit! I sold my Batman VHSs and forgot all about the Bugs/Daffy & Alfred/Diet Coke commercials. Now I really do hope at least the Alfred/Diet Coke commercial is a extra. Man I really want the REAL announcement soon(hell now!). I loved 1,3,2(in that order) -and 4 was okay. Really Hope Begins is as good as the 1st 3 movies.
HAIL BATMAN!

I have never been comfortable with the 4th SUPERMAN as it appears to have been edited severly. There are several things that don't make sense, for example, the Atomic Man is causing destruction suddenly in Metropolis and demands "Where is the girl?" in apparent reference to Hemingway. Did I miss something or did the creature and Luthor never really have any exposure or motive for the creature to go seeking "the girl"? This is just one of several things that made it seem like the movie was chopped up to fit a 90 minute time period. Does anyone know the truth?

On a second note, in reference to the Batman commercials, do they ever include commercials as extras? Did Christopher Reeve do any commercials as Superman? Helen Slater did at least one or two Safety Belt commercials as SUPERGIRL and I had hoped to see these in the 2-disc Special Edition, but of course, they weren't there.
