God this movie had Elementary School Hell for me! (Let just say being overweight and named Tommy was not very good when this movie came out).

Wow, this is almost too good to be true. It was one of the first DVD's I ever bought, I never thought we'd see a special edition.

I hope this springs forward the possibilites of an Almost Heroes release as well.

Dang. I haven't even watched the original release I got from Columbia House a year ago. Watched the VHS like crazy though.

Tommy Boy was The First DVD I ever owned. I'm very pumped for this release. It would be great if the trailer for the DVD was on-line somewhere.

Just started watching Without A Paddle. (In the first 5 minutes, so not sure what i'm getting myself into.)

Anyhow, I was going to post about the Tommy Boy: SE, but I figured someone would've announced this already. Did a search, and sure 'nuff someone did.

Sufficed to say that I, too, am looking forward to it.

Big time. (Glad I didn't take advantage of the many 2-for-$whatever sales that this movie was a part of.)

Well, time for the triple dip. I bough the VHS - for a lot of money - then the DVD - now I will buy this - and when the HD version comes out - yes it will be one that gets upgraded. The people questioning this as a new 2 disc SE baffle me. This is quite possibly my generation's Animal House - a comedy you will watch over and over. I know I would much rather have this than Titanic - no offense to those that want a Titanic special edition - I will probably buy that as well if the price is right. It is going to sell a crapload of dopies and that is why it was chosen. (Titanic will also, and it will come out in due time)

why do you need a better transfer for a comedy??? Its like having 5.1 audio without a 5.1 audio speakers. Sure its nice to have but whats the point.

Err... The same reason you would want a higher quality video with anything? Why exactly is a comedy considered not worthy of improved video/audio, commentaries, extra features and everything else that many of us will enjoy on this release?

That comparison is simply insane. So what you are saying is that no people who would possibly want to own Tommy Boy would have an HDTV or notice something like picture quality?

Not to mention disc 2 is probably not just a second copy of disc 1.

It might be a good idea to not bump threads if you yourself don't have anything to share. Nobody waits until someone else bumps a thread to share information.

Well, I would disagree. Here is a perfect example:

After I bumped the thread, someone posted the release date for Office Space: SE.

Or do like me and just never say anything. Then you don't get picked on.

the old Tommy Boy dvd also got put on the OOP list and is getting shipped back...however that date for Office Space doesn't hold much water until one of the major sites gives it an announcement. No offense to that poster...but without a source or multiple sites reporting then you have to hold it as a hopeful date

The bits are usually pretty accurate, but the 3rd is a Wednesday. Tuesday is the 2nd.
