Is Dec 14 the last day for you to buy DVDs?

For me it is.

I got almost everything I wanted and I won't have to step foot at a best buy until Feb 8 when Miami Vice comes out.

finally a break. I have been going there about 3 times a month since August.

I was in a Best Buy exactly once this year, and that was only to spend a gift certificate I was given. I don't care for their limited selection and lackluster prices.

After next week or two it will be for a while:

Dec. 21
Simpsons Season 5
Resident Evil: Apocalypse
Shaun of the Dead

Dec. 28
Anchorman Gift Set

after that it'll be a while before anything else I want comes out.

Begrudging thanks for the reminder; I thought I was done for at *least* the rest of the year ('Shaun of the Dead' being on my Christmas list).

Dammit.

actually, today was when my wife informed me that I was to buy no more DVDs until after christmas. I know I'm getting them, but I don't know which ones. DAMN!!! she told me to make her a list of ones I wanted. I quit typing after about 75 or so, so christmas should be interesting this year. think I'm gonna need more shelf space though..

Well I thought that next year might be slow since there was so many great releases this year, but so far its looking like I'm wrong. My DeepDiscountDVD wishlist went from 2 items to almost 14 in the past couple of days...and after reading this thread I have to add 'Ice Pirates' and 'Cube Zero'

edit:

also :

01/18/05: curb your enthusiasm season 3
02/15/05 saw
01/25/05 the beastmaster

That about sums up how frequently I purchase anything at Best Buy. But I did make my yearly purchase today since I had a 10% coupon and it was the only place that had the Rocky Anthology with the 6th disc. Also got the Top Gun DVD with the free bonus disc while I was there. Otherwise my DVD buying is finished until January 11 when Gilligan's Island season 2 is released.

You mean people actually pay those prices. I prefer to shop online and not deal with the twits at Best Buy. I actually buy very little on release day. I wait a month or so and many drop in price and lots of used ones show up. I purchase release week or preorder about 1% of the time.

The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Shaun of the Dead

12-28-04
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (Unrated Gift Set)

That's all the new releases I'm interesed for the year... Jan. is looking pretty dry... Looks like a saving month.

oh my god, like everybody who works at best buy is a complete moron!!! i bet they can't even tell the difference between pan & scan and open matte!! i bet they don't even care either!!

Surprisingly, the next two weeks are extremely light. As far as I can tell, looks like I'm only picking up Napoleon Dynamite and Garden State. Aside from The Village and Donnie Darko: Director's Cut, I can't think of much else of interest for the first couple months next year.

I'll try and cut back (but I doubt that will happen). In 2005 my main DVD purchases will be of TV shows that I've already started buying.

I have already estimated that I expect to spend around $500 during the first half of next year.
Of course, these are must have titles and exclude unnannounced DVDs or DVDs that I may come across during an excellent sale or so.

Coming in under the radar on Dec. 28th (it's still not listed however on many DVD e-tailer sites - has it been pushed back?)...............Twilight Samurai - was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 2004 Oscars, plus it won 12 Japanese Academy Awards in 2003. It is a magnificent movie! Highly recommended.
