I'm In The 50 Dvd Club Now!
Bought 4 tonight at a local dvd/video game/cd trade/buy/sell place. Pretty neat store. I bought
Chasing Amy
Cheaper By The Dozen
Kingpin
Mr. Magoo
Those 4 put me up to 50 DVD's! I feel so proud! lol, but seriously, I am!

That makes no sense. So right now you are telling me that you sold all your DVDs and you are just sitting around waiting for HD-DVD/Blu-Ray??

Good for you, I'm not that much higher, just up in the 120's and I am always shocked to see people with over 600 and more, I wonder how they can afford it all.

Congrats to the OP.
Now, all you have to do to get into the 500 club, is just count HOW MANY DISCS you have. Not movies.

right on...congrats!! I was pretty pumped when I hit 50 a few years back. it's pretty cool looking at your collection as it fattens up. here is the bad news. you could be like me.....a poor dude on a 4 year overdose of film. I even started/bought a buisiness that PROVIDED tips....just to feed my habit...aka, feeding the library. I cracked 1,800 titles a while back and on my way to around 2,000 total...according to my film "needed" list. my goal is to build my own, personal library, of all my faves and self proclaimed essentials. take this advice: don't give a crap about what other people think about what you own. sure...asking advice or thought here at the forum can be a fine tool in film/dvd education...but don't let it rule your choices.
continued fun with your collecting....and again, congrats!
btw....as for waiting around for the next great format to take over....thats crazy talk. wait how many years for my faves?
I'll stick with dvd for as long as it takes. nobody is making me wait to watch Killer Nun...when I can buy it and enjoy it today.

and if I could save and change/update my sig below...I'd give ya a taste of what I bought today. oh well.

Congratulations - you are on your way - I remember when I hit 50, my friends were like damn. Then, I joined DVDTalk and I saw the members here and how many they had - even back in 2000 - and was like damn. Today I am getting up there and there are still people I see and say I will never get there - then I do - Although Austin has one hell of lead.
With the 11 I purchased tonight I passed 850 (again) - I keep selling stuff off. I have probably owned well over 1000 titles in my day.
Incidentally, Cheaper By The Dozen was one of the ones I purchased.

Kornboy, get a Netflix subscription and spend your money on girls.
Black Books the Complete Series was my 1353 DVD what a day it was. I know you said 500 but I think 1353 is a bigger milestone.

You seem to be doing that a lot lately and nobody really likes it.

kornboy,
50's a good milestone. Wait till you get to about 300 and then decide you have too many and sell half of them like me!

The more you stick around here, the more you'll realize that the site sucks you in and you'll soon have more than you ever wanted to collect. I remember when I hit 50, it was like "whoa...this is getting extreme"....then, I joined DVDTalk. :-/
