Question on DTS and Dolby

I thought I saw the answers here before but I can't seem to find them. Are there any current DVD's that have higher than 5.1 recordings on them? I thought the LOTR and some others did but I could be completely mistaken. If so, is there a good place that lists these?

Thanks

Yes, there are a good handful that have DTS 6.1

Nothing in 7.1 yet that I'm aware of

Thanks

I appreciate all the info. Do I need anything special for a DVD player or are these handled by the DAC on my preamp?

Usually the channels are decoded by your preamp/receiver. As long as your player has coax/optical outputs, you should be fine.
