I will only double-dip for this one if there is a second-disk with the tv-edited version included. A Mewes/Smith/Afleck commentary on the tv version would be nice as well.

Also, maybe a Jim Jacks/Gramercy commentary so they could reveal their thinking for the restrictions put on the movie. It would be in the same vein as the feminist critique of Basic Instinct or the critics commentary on the second and third Matrix films.

Most of the deleted scenes were awful, especially the alternate opening, so I don't care much about that footage being reintegrated.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I like all the deleted scenes which relate to the cut opening, especially Jason Lee as Svenning's "neighbor" talking to the press. But that "original" opening [sidebar: Smith's original intended opening was the one in the movie; the studio convinced him to do a bigger, set piece opening, so he did that, but they all thought it sucked, so they went back months later and shot the current opening] itself was terrible.

I'd be curious to see the footage all assembled back into the movie, but it wouldn't make or break the deal for me. I'd settle for being able to watch individual deleted scenes, instead of just an hour long chunk of footage with no chapter stops.

Hey, that 'Amy' disc needs fixing. There are framing issues.

And, also, that 'Dogma' disc needs the animatic and the 'Judge Not' documentary put back on them.

And the 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back' disc should have, at least, the "Oh, What A Lovely Tea Party" documentary...

And 'Jersey Girl' should be the director's cut...

(PS: It's not exactly his fault that his latest movie is being put on hold due to financing related to the Miramax/Disney falling-out going on of late, is it?)

(PPS: Universal was already pursuing a 10th anniversary release without Smith's involvement, so he decided to get involved because it's his name on the release.)

There is still quite a bit of deleted scenes and such they could stockpile on this release.The TV Special would be a nice addition aswell.

I would just like to point out that the current DVD ONLY contains deleted scenes from the original first cut of the film (that ran almost two and a half hours). Smith and Moiser shot numerous other scenes when they were doing reshoots, but none of them were featured in the deleted scenes section of the film; YET are mentioned during the audio commentary. In terms of other extras that "exist," Smith and Co. also did an MTV special for the flick (NOT the "Video Stash" special which was released during the time frame of Chasing Amy) among other things.

I wouldn't mind a new 90 minute documentary on the flick. The Stinkpalm Effect anyone?

In terms of a new Chasing Amy release, Smith told us not to count on it. In his own words, he said that the Criterion Collection has EVERYTHING POSSIBLE on it. That is unless we want him to put on all the dailies so we can create our own version of the film.

The 'Judge Not' documentary is already available on the Vulgar DVD. There is a reason that it couldn't be put on the Dogma one.

'Oh, What A Lovely Tea Party' will be out soon enough.

And the Jersey Girl director's cut will be out as well.

Specific names, companies, and situations were mentioned during the documentary that shouldn't have been. The three of the above were either muted during the documentary (similar to Dogma's commentary tracks) or deleted from the documentary completely. Think of the Clerks: The Animated Series commentary tracks in which nobody can mention "ABC" by name (and when O'Halloran does during the last episode, it's bleeped).

framing issues? where, Vincent P. on the commentary said that train scene was misframed in theaters, but its not on the dvd (and affleck jokes that its because its criterion.)
i noticed that the lighting during the oral sex scars scene, but that might have been due to budget. speaking of that scene, smith has stated that it was supposed to be in mallrats, but universal made them take it out. was the entire scene supposed to be in mallrats, or just the part about scars, since there is a conversation in Amy about how do girls fuck each other.

The train scene IS misframed on the DVD. The commentary was recorded for the CRITERION LASERDISC. Criterion (as well as Klein) DID NOT oversee the DVD transfer for Chasing Amy, someone at Buena Vista did.

Criterion DID NOT put out the Chasing Amy DVD. Buena Vista did. Criterion produced the materials and put their banner on the DVD, but that's as far as it goes.

From what I remember reading and hearing, Dave Klein didn't oversee the transfer made for the DVD (whereas he oversaw the transfer used for the Criterion laserdisc). When it was made public that the Criterion DVD was misframed, the gang over at View Askew mentioned that Klein did not oversee the transfer made for the DVD and someone over at Buena Vista made the mistake.

I remember the Wal-Mart near my house having a few copies for $14.99-19.99 one day; but not anymore (they don't carry it as of late).

And I was one of the dumbasses who ran out and bought the thing for $34.99. The sad thing... I'll gladly double dip for a SE.

I own Vulgar and have watched the doc but failed to find the info on which company was bleeped and why it was nessisary.
