At a local pawn shop I picked up for $5:

Short Cuts Criterion set in mint condition and for whatever reason they also threw in a really tattered copy of Soderbergh's Oceans 11.

Well, as of recently, getting the following for $40 total:

Arrested Development: Season 2
24: Season 1
The Shield: Season 1
Family Guy: Volume 1

...via the Fox TV sale at Best Buy + the coupon that someone here posted was definitely a good deal...

I buy off Ebay a lot, and there are lots of good bargains to be had as long as you are patient and disciplined, take a good look at the seller's policies and other items offered for sale (combined shipping costs can make real good deals sometimes) and be sure you only deal with sellers who have a good reputation.

Last week I got this package:

Lost 1st Season
Wonder Woman 2nd Season
Warners Gangsters Collection
The Party (NEW)
Mission Impossible Collector's Edition
Doctor Zhivago (2-Disc Collector's) (NEW)
To the Shores of Tripoli (NEW)
Heartbreak Ridge (NEW)
In Cold Blood (Robert Blake version)
Dial M for Murder (NEW)

The total cost, including shipping was between $86 and 87. The used titles are all in good condition. For kicks I priced out DD's pricing and got oer $200 new and over $160 during their 20% sale.

I usually wind up with a package like this every couple of months. The key is to get a real good deal on a big item like a box set and then see what cheaper single-disc DVD's you can add on for little additional shipping charges.

ohh the good old days when new websites were taking losses to compete with each other, and let you combine coupons, and lets not forget BuyBidWin.com, besides the 30 free movies, I got a free DVD player and a surround sound system from them, both top of the line

Nothing too, too great for me but a few I *have* gotten are:

South Park Seasons 1-4 for $50 new at Wal-Mart
Army of Darkness Boomstick Edition and Beauty and the Beast Platinum (both used, but in practically perfect shape) for $14 each
Twin Peaks S1 at a Future Shop sale for $20 (wish I had the hindsight to pick up a few more while I was there)
and probably one of the best ones, The Blind Dead Coffin Box for $20 brand new

Received a limited edition set from Japan that comes with a Mini Statue for free from an overseas etailer. The price $170.00.

The statue in the original set arrived damaged and the CS rep from the etailer said that to reimburse for shipping alone would be half the price of the set (shipping weight is 15lbs and the package is huge). They sent me another one and said to keep both.

The very best deals for me are the freebies. Minus Man from DDD (it said 0.00 on the site, I ordered and it actually shipped) and MI3 2 disk from CH (the free half of a buy one get one free, but then they cancelled the paid part).

I get free DVDs out of the 'free bin' at my local used DVD/CD store all of the time. In fact they threw out a perfect Spinal Tap DVD last week with a couple of other titles. I haven't the faintest idea why they do this and I really don't care. I just like the freebies!!!!!!!

I find deals on almost a daily basis as reselling is part of my disposable income. Hey, I have to do something to support my habit!!

Anyway today I found:
Nightmare Before Christmas - 12.95
Snow White - 12.95
Robocop Criterion - 5.95

Few others:
Army Of Darkness Boomstick for 8.95 a few months back. Kept that one.
Akira Tin - $6
I've found a dozen copies of Meatballs all for anywhere between $1 and $6, all resold.

I also find Armegeddon Criterion for $5.95 all the time.

I found copies and copies of Flash Gordon for $5 a peice when I lived in MN. They sell for 8.95 here and I have found about 5 or 6 copies.

I've found numerous Lion King Platinum DVDs.

I'm not one to hold onto my DVDs anymore. If I can make a buck it's on the bay.

I just love the used DVD/CD/Game/Pawn/Thrift/Rental shops as a great deal of the time they don't have a clue on how to price used DVDs correctly.

I've found a glitch in their catalog system at one of the places and they do not seem to care about so $Kaaaaching$

The BEST one recently was when I picked up 4 DVDs at FYE as part of their buy 3 get 1 free. To make a long story short I had to return all but Little Nemo - Adventures In Slumberland which had rung up as the free one. I told them that I needed to return all of them but I wanted Little Nemo and would pay for it. At the end he says that the Little Nemo was the free one so I can keep it. I signed a few things for the return and again asked him if I needed to pay for it and he said no. $50 on ebay.

The Good The Bad and the Ugly Special Edition for $9, due to a pricing error on Target's flyer, which I price matched to Best Buy.

The manager's response? "I hope you buy a plasma from us."

In California, stores have to sell product as "used" when they buy it from individuals, even if the product is sealed. And most never mark the sealed copies higher than the used.

I got a "used" (sealed) copy of the bootleg cut of "Almost Famous" at Weherehouse for less than $10 a couple of years after it went out of print.

I just picked up Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society 3-disc LE Steelbook for $11.89 at Best Buy...It was marked on the shelf and (surprisingly) rang up $12.99 for some reason (sticker was $29.99), plus the coupon for 10% off media actually worked on it, even though it was on sale...score!

I can't remember the DVD but my wife and I purchased a DVD at Wallyworld and the check out person was so intent on making sure the security device was disabled she forgot to scan the DVD. So $0.

Another vote for the "3 for $1" at 800.com. I got the Criterion edition of Brazil for 33 cents.

I found the ET: Ultimate Gift Set used, but brand new (was never even touched) for $29.99 @ FYE. Since I had seen it a couple of years ago in an FYE for $70, and I passed, I picked it up for this price!

Amelie (LE French Tin Set): $49.99 new/sealed
The Beyond (LE Tin Set): $14.99 new/sealed
The Complete Matrix Collection (HD-DVD): $19.99 new/sealed

I considered the Amelie tin a deal because of how hard it was for me to find. Out of all the DVD stores I went to in Paris, only one place had that set. For the amount of stuff that is included in the set (2 disc DVD, soundtrack, photos of cast/traveling gnome, poster, etc.), $50 was a steal.
