Not buying Shrek 2

Because I didn't like the movie? No. Because I don't think I'd watch the DVD repeatedly? No.

Why?

Because I ain't got a clue where to get the best deal.

All these "low price/no price" ads are pissing me off. Doesn't help to know where to shop when a price is not advertised. And I don't feel like calling Target, Best Buy, Circuit City and WalMart to find out.

Plus I know there are a butt-load of "deals" for Shrek 2. Price deals, bonus disks, etc.

Basically, I'm concerned about paying too much. But I can't ask for the "best price" in the bargain forum. And I haven't seen any compilaton of the various deals/prices. Not even the price thread(s) here help because the prices weren't advertised!?!!?!!!

My advice? Walk into whatever mainstream, budget-friendly store is nearest you (Best Buy, WM, whatever), buy the dvd and walk the fuck out. Why stress yourself over a dollar or two? Why expend life energy worrying about getting the best deal? Pay a price you're happy with and walk away.
Jesus wept, it's just a movie! You could be home watching it right now, rather than worrying.

I've gotten to the point in my DVD buying I don't want to waste any money, because every dollar saved is a dollar I can spend on something else, whether another DVD or not.

After first getting my first player more than a year ago, I know there were times I paid too much, because I wasn't as price conscious as I am now. I just don't want to pay too much.

There's a thread in Bargains that consolidates all the large B&M prices for the week. It isn't really that hard to look at to find a price for Shrek 2. You're just not looking hard enough.

But other then your apparent laziness and inability to find that thread, i agree the new policy blows. And plenty of us have complained about it over in Forum Feedback (to no avail or official response)

If you have a Sears card, Sears is still having a 10% off;15.99-1.60=14.39. Picked up 5 of them for xmas gifts and with tax was about $76.00.

Well if you want to buy it new now your looking at $14.99 to $15.99. If you want to buy it new later, there is a good chance this might be cheap ($9.99) on Black Friday. If you wait a while you will be able to get it used at BBV or Hollywood Video PVD for $8-$10 which is pretty much the case for most mainstream DVDs.

I DID look. The pricing thread didn't have the price, because many if not all of the ads did not list a price.

I got it FREE today at Giant (grocery store) after buying $20 in Chunky soup (12 cans). Not a bad deal, since I was going to buy some soup anyway. Amazingly enough, they had WIDESCREEN! I thought I would have to take it to Wal-Mart and switch.

You do realize that driving a greater distance to save that buck or two may actually cost you double what you save in gas and time spent?

Something you have to factor about it all. I never realized why people jump to the lowest price even though the time wasted and the gas spent out weigh any benefit in going that far for a dollar or two.

Low Price/Hot Price have always been extremely easy to figure out, and it still surprises me that people have yet to realize that they're always the same as the listed price nearest it. And that said, you could easily check the company website for those prices.

I have just about all the stores within the same distance.

As for checking Web sites: doesn't always work, either. Target had Star Trek Season 2 listed at $90.99 online, but it was $99.99 in the store. THAT was a wasted trip.

Thank god they cleared up the 'clutter' of the "best price" threads or it really would have been hard for me to find all 13 threads on this title.

Just check the bargins forum and be done with it already. You seem to be wasting a lot of time talking about wasting time.

Are you sure $15 is the best deal?

Time isn't the concern. Getting the best possible deal is.

Looks like I may stop by Sears tomorrow. Thanks to Tscott for assembling the info.

Guess thats the advantage to living in a small town. I always know that Wallyworld and K-Mart are going to be the two sellers and will be within pennies of each other, in the under $16 range. Worrying about 11 cents or so......ummm, no.

You have absolutely got to be kidding me. Just get out there and look and stop being so lazy. You don't want to buy the DVD just because places haven't got a price advertised? And you don't even want to bother to call them to find out? Maybe it's just me, but if I wanted a movie, I'll find out whatever I need to find out with a phone call if need be, or look at the prices next time I happen to be at that store....
