Spider-Man 2.5 AKA Ye Ole Double Dip
I see Sony is planning a Spider-Man 2.5 release for sometime in 2005. So who's buying the upcoming version, who's waiting and who's falling for the "double dip"?

he didn't have the money??? what there wasn't any left from Spidey 1 which made nearly $1 billion worldwide! I don't quite get that statement considering I am sure he could have gotten anything he damn well wanted!

As a kid, I would've killed for a Spider-Man movie, and now that there're happening, I honestly can't get enough. I used to collect almost every Marvel comic out there, and I'll continue to support Marvel.
I plan on buying the gift set for the first version, and almost definitely 2.5 next year.

2-disc SE for me first, and then probably 2.5 if extra footage warrants. If only a few minutes worth, may not bother, but anything in the 10-20 minute range will most probably double-dip.

From the interviews I've read, it sounds like Raimi doesn't want to do a director's cut but the studio is pressuring him to do it so they can have something else to release. That, coupled with the fact that most of the changes sound like they're just a few extra seconds scattered here and there means I'll probably pass on this release. Just give me the regular edition.

It sure does sound like only a few minutes of extra footage at best. Otherwise I'm guessing Sam would have been talking about working on the missing scene footage rather than talking about the few seconds here and there.
After seeing how fast the first 2 disc set went down in price I'm thinking there isn't anything to lose by waiting until next year sometime to buy the disc.

If the first release can be found at a good price, I'll pick that one up. Otherwise, I'll wait till 2.5 comes out, see how it is, then decide [since some folks might sell their 2 to recoup some costs]. I won't buy a doubledip, especially when very little is improved/added, and sometimes I won't buy the movie at all just on principle. Especially given Sony's attitude about it. Reading that article at VSM makes me lean toward either buying the 11/30 one or just saying screw it, you've lost a sale.

If I can get the first one cheap enough, I will pick it up, trade it in at BBV for eight dollars and pick up the 2.5 edition. Other than that, I won't be buying the first one and wait for the double dip. I have plenty in my collection where if I wait a few months to get this, it won't be a big deal. I have plenty of unwatched DVDs to keep me busy.

Also, I'll probably double-dip if the reviews on 2.5 are favorable.

superbit. It is all about the film and audio. I'll pass on the features for this one.
