And what exactly is the difference between the extra features on the Rated and Unrated versions?

Here is hoping that they actually have enough of the bonus disc. Unlike the Friday the 13th fiasco.

Just a heads up for anyone interested in this. My friend works at Best Buy and said that the only copies in the back that have the bonus disc are the RATED version. Now, my friend does happen to be a complete idiot so take this with a grain for salt.

To answer the question in the first post. I think the Unrated version has all the extras of the rated one plus 3 more featurettes.

I'm going to go with "my friend is an idiot". If it is true, I'll just take the disc off a rated and take it up to the register.

Why do you say "obviously"? The Day After Tomorrow was inside the dvd case.

The website states that only the director's cut will have the bonus disc.

Seems like most of Best Buy's recent exclusives have been packed in. A lot of them even have different UPC #'s, like "Mean Girls."

Both Man on Fire and Day after tomorrow had the dvd in the case, not sure about Van Helsing though. This better be in the case, lol, cause I ordered it from the website! (no bestbuys near me) So I wouldn't call it "obvious"

I was going to wait for a used copy of this, but now I might have to head off to a Best Buy Tuesday.

like everyone else is saying, back in the day this may have been obvious, but many more sets are coming with bonus disc packed in (ie. Friday the 13th, Ren and Stimpy etc).

Anyone know how long this bonus disc will be available? I doubt it will be with it always from best buy. A few weeks? Month? I don't plan on buying for about a week -- I just wanted to be safe....

after all the fuss lately with the bonus discs on F13, VH, etc and now DOTD...I have one thing to say: f**k Best Buy!

If it's anything like the Van Helsing special disc, it makes sense.

Look at the specs for the extras on the Theatrical disc:



NOW look at the Unrated Edition's special features.


You see that the Unrated one has more features.

So, the bonus disc will likely include some or all the extra features that are on the unrated one and not the theatrical one. Therefore the bonus disc is only included with the Theatrical cut as those buying the Unrated one already have all that material.


Same deal with Van Helsing. The stuff on the the bonus disc (That was only available with the single disc version) was just some featurettes that were only available on the deluxe set. The disc didn't come witht the deluxe set for obvious reasons.

Picked up Van Helsing on Saturday. BB employee said that the bonus disc was packaged inside (Master and Commander was). Got it home, opened it up . . . no bonus disc.

Taking it back tomorrow when I pick up DOTD.

When I got VH, it was out on a display table, and the bonus disks were stacked in their own sleeves beside them. It wasn't in the package.

Best Buy's website spells it out pretty clearly. The bonus disc is on the UNRATED version and contains extras not listed on the unrated disc.

So unless the site is way off, this is the deal.

It says min 75 per store or soemthing like that. Usually when it says that they have double that amount. The only time I saw a very limited one was the Indiana Jones 5th disc. The Best Buy here only had 5 total in! I got the second to last one.

Anyone get thie bonus disc with the Unrated version? I want to know before I drive 40 minutes to the closest Best Buy.

Well, how about calling the store and asking. That would be the definitive answer.

Just got my copy of the Unrated version and the bonus disc is actually inside the case, not packaged under the shrinkwrap or separate from the DVD.

There's a blue and white oval-shaped sticker on the slipcover that says "Exclusive Bonus Disc."
