Ultimate Matrix Collection - Are you upgrading or doubledipping ?

Hi Everybody,
As a fan of the Matrix movies, I have all three films including the Matrix Revisited and the Animatrix release. With the current Blockbuster promotion in which trade in's are worth a minimum $8 each, I was considering trading in all five of my Matrix dvds in order to upgrade to the Ultimate Matrix Collection that comes out in December. I'm very undecided on whether this new set is worth upgrading and I usually only keep one release of any particular dvd. Since the trade in promotion for $8 per dvd ends at the end of October, I want to decide on this before the promotion ends. It makes no sense to sell these dvds on Ebay since there isn't a market for them. I am aware that the original Matrix release will be re-colored in order to reflect the colors of the two sequels. Your thoughts are welcome. Perhaps a poll in this forum would help those who are undecided. Moderator, please link this with the other Ultimate Matrix or Blockbuster Trade in threads if you feel that would be best.

I sold the Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, & The Animatrix to my brother. I have already pre-ordered the 10 disk set. The extras and improved transfer on the first film are well worth the double dip.

If you have a Blockbuster in your area participating in the $8 rebate, I would trade your current disks in and use the credit towards the upgrade.

If they release a new SE of the original Matrix, I'll get it.

I have no interest in the sequels or cartoons.

I traded all my Matrix DVD's to Blockbuster for specifically this reason. I had The Matrix, Reloaded, Revolutions, and Animatrix. Considering the Ultimate Collection will be around 50 dollars, getting 32 dollars back for the 4 DVD's I already owned is a good enough deal for me. The new transfer on The Matrix, the commentaries, and the extra discs of features make it a no brainer for me.

The only thing i'm debating is whether or not to keep the original Matrix since it may be revised somewhat in the UC. But yeah I'd want to go the BBV route if I do (which I most likely will).

I held out on the sequels so no double-dipping there.

No, they're mediocre movies, I don't care to watch any extras, thus I'm fine with the current releases.

I have everything released so far, and I am interested in the box. Unfortunately there isn't a BBV near that is doing the offer in my area. I would dump them in a heartbeat. Especially Revisted and Animatrix which are pretty worthless, resale-wise. I wish I held out on Revolutions. It is still in the shrink wrap. Reloaded though I have enjoyed a few times.

Sequels were a big let down, no double dip for me.

Nope, if they put out a DTS version of the original I would pick that up. Other than that the current releases of the sequels are fine with me.

Bought The Matrix back in 1999
Bought The Animatrix when it came out.
Held off on buying any of the others when news of this box set was making the rounds.
Once they officially announced it, I sold off both DVDs.

I may keep the original Matrix if the isolated score is dropped, or any other features. Otherwise I'll just give them away to a friend.

The Matrix was the first movie I bought when I bought my first DVD player just over a year ago.

I have all three movies now, and no plans to get the new release or get rid of what I have now. They all look good to me.

I'll spend my money buying stuff I don't have yet.

nope won't be upgrading or double dipping.

what they should do is throw the first movie into a keepcase, to match the other 2.

Supposedly NONE of the features on the original discs are in the box set. AFAIK.

Knowing me I'll get the thing if I find it in a discount store or used and in good condition.

So all the extra's are different betwen the originals and boxset? What more can they add? I'll probably stick to the ones I have now. They have lots of extra's (which I will only watch once) and the transfers are pretty decent.

The orginal Matrix was one of the first dvd's I bought. I bought Reloaded and Revolutions as there were released. I have no desire to own any other Matrix related dvd's besides these.

Matrix was one my first DVD purchased, no reason to "Re-Give money to the studio".

Do not own the 2nd Matrix, but I do own the 3rd. No desire to own the 2nd movie.

Yep. Except for Revisited and Animatrix. Those discs are identical to what is out now. So to have EVERYTHING Matrix, you have to have a 15 Disc set.

The box has 35 hours of new extras. I'm sure half of that are commentaries though. They probably include those to inflate the number. Still a hefty amount though.
