I'm happy with my disc of the first Matrix. I see no need to double dip.

Ive got the matrix as one of my first dvds. good flick. I picked up revisted dirt cheap, i think from overstock, back in day for something ridiculous (under $5)

Reloaded was a waste of time. Total fluff, they could have cut out 3/4 of that crap movie and just made 1 sequel and been done with it. The last movie was ok. I didnt buy either of these flicks, thinking id hold out for a box set.

I did buy animatrix used for like $7. If you like animation, and the matrix, its a no brainer. Im amazed to see so many people avoid this. The animatrix had some really cool little stories. I think a lot of people are missing the boat on animatrix.

I dont have a lot invested, and i like special features, commentaries and such, so ill double dip, as long as i can get a good deal. Im sure they will saturate the market with these. Ill hold out 8 months or so and snap it up for $30 or less. (just like i did with indy, bttf, and will do with star wars)

I only have the Matrix. I held out when the others came out . I knew they were gonna come up with the ultimate set, so I was waiting for this to come out.

No double-dip for me. I love the 1st one, but the other two, meh... I'll keep what I've got.

I have all three movies, not the animatrix. Got all three as new releases when they came out, and never saw any of them in the theater.

Will I double dip? For the animatrix and more extras? Nah. I like what I have just fine for these. If they had been ultra-barebones to begin with, perhaps - but that's not the case.

Looks like a nice set though for those who haven't bought them already...

i figured that when the second two came out that there would be a boxset so i held off. i also didn't think either 2 or 3 were very good. that combined with my lack of funds means that i won't be picking up the boxset anytime soon. i will probably wait for a price drop and then think about it some more.

I know it's been brought up before in another thread, but the question should also be if you are double dipping are you getting the "standard" Ultimate edition or are you getting the Limited Edition (it includes the Neo bust).

Personally I cannot decide.

Seems pretty dubious to me. The current DVDs are good enough. The new transfer for the original is satisfactory, but the old DVD is pretty decent, plus, you can't unload the Matrix discs for anything to used disc resellers/

Sure you can. 8 bucks at Blockbuster

For those who don't care for features, there's certainly little reason to upgrade, but in terms of content this set rivals the Alien Quadrilogy as one of the best movie box sets. Not to mention the prospects of a remastered first film.

As for me, i'm leaning towards the regular one, simply because i don't care for the plastic case. If they had a more inventive packaging for the discs and bust, i'd seriously consider it.

I bought the original, Animatrix, Reloaded and Revolutions as they were released. No more. I wish I could get my money back for Reloaded. Really like the original and Animatrix.

I want to trade up but I don't want to lose some of the features from the Reloaded disc; MTV Reloaded, Making of the Game, and making of the Car Chase (all pretty cool).

Not sure if the disc is worth keeping just for those extras. Anybody know if those are picked up in the new set?

I was looking on the digitalbits site at the upcoming cover art for 2005, and they have a picture of The Martix Special Edition. It looks like they will be releasing the first one by itself with the new transfer. So anybody wanting to get the boxset for the new transfer, it should be coming out by itself in the future, if digitalbits is right.

That looks to be the same cover that was released when there were plans to re-release The Matrix earlier this year. So there's a chance it might just be remanants from that...

i got the three matrix films plus animatrix from columbia house for about $7.50 a piece, so i'm planning on selling them back to blockbuster at $8 each and double-dipping on the boxset (though not the limited edition b/c the bust and plastic casing look kind of weak). i have to say, though--i always feel slightly weird when i sell off dvd's i own months before an upgraded release comes out. holes in the dvd shelf create anxiety, but maybe that's just me...

any word on some sort of rebates for us double-dippers?

I have all the Matrix discs out so far, most I got cheap. While I really enjoy these films, and would like to upgrade for some of these special features, I really don't have the money or desire to.

Anyone have a quick link to a rundown on all the extras on this?

I was going to sell mine (All 3 movies + Animatrix) at BBV and get the new one, but then I saw the package. Honestly, I'd rather keep these old ones in their nice cases than get the new flimsy one.

If they ever release The Matrix w/the new transfer separately, I MAY get it, but I LOVE this original Matrix disc, so probably not.

It was a hard decision as it's nearly an even swap, but in the end, all I get is a bad case and a bunch more documentaries that I won't watch--or just watch once. Not worth it.

I never bought any of the movies, so I guess I'll be "single dipping"

I'm still not sure about this. I only have the 3 movies. I may wait and just re-buy the first one, if that above is true.

I would agree except that Matrix (first one) is in a Snapper case. I have yet to ever see it in a KeepCase like the last 2. Oh and I actually like the new set.

This is the way I'm leaning as well. The two sequels look great, so the first movie is the only one I want the new transfer of. I'm not going to buy a 10 disc set just for the one movie, unless I come across it used, which is likely down the road.
