Me too. Loved The Matrix. I didn't like 2, and I actively disliked 3, but I never picked up Animatrix and I'd really like to hear the new 'dueling' commentaries, so if I find a deal I'll bite.

Grolim 10-21-04 04:07 PM

I'm definitely getting it. The collectors set and all.

gutwrencher 10-21-04 04:17 PM

neither....I've had my fill.

juicerocket 10-21-04 04:20 PM

I never bought the original 3, or Animatrix, only because I knew eventually they'd sell a SE or box set. I'll buy the collectors set, and keep an eye out for any Limited Editions that might come out overseas.

Yep. Except for Revisited and Animatrix. Those discs are identical to what is out now. So to have EVERYTHING Matrix, you have to have a 15 Disc set.

The box has 35 hours of new extras. I'm sure half of that are commentaries though. They probably include those to inflate the number. Still a hefty amount though.

Hmm maybe I will double dip if the extra's are different. Are the movies a longer cut?

Johnny Zhivago 10-21-04 04:32 PM

Only the first film, if it's released on it's own and the reviews are favorable... Maybe. Don't care for the others...

shizawn 10-21-04 04:50 PM

Yeah I'm planning on upgrading. I guess I'll take advantage of the BBV deal. If I can get $8 per, that'd be like $32 towards the new set.

I normally give my mom dvds I upgrade but I don't know if she would watch The Matrix.

gtyper 10-21-04 04:54 PM

I bought the first one, but avoided the others like the plague.

In my opinion, they came near ruining the first movie for me. But, I guess that is the job of most sequels.

Anyhow, I'll probably break down and buy the new set - because that's MY job. But, I'll keep the original Matrix if they plan on doing any alterations to the first movie.

buckee1 10-21-04 06:03 PM

I'm still on the fence with this one. On one hand I'd like a better transfer for the first film but, I don't really watch it now. The other two and the anime have each been watched only once so, I guess, I'm leaning on keeping what I have and skipping this set for now.

Kakkarat 10-21-04 07:09 PM

Just sold the Animatrix and Matrix Revisited to blockbuster. I'll be keeping all 3 of the current movie releases. And I'll buy the Ultimate Collection. I can't help it, I'm a sucker for extras on movies I really like. And yes, I do like the sequals (and LOVE the first)

blindrocket 10-21-04 07:21 PM

The Matrix was the first DVD that I ever bought, and I love the trilogy.

I have The Matrix, The Matrix Revisited, and The Animatrix... I just KNEW that a boxset would be coming so I've held off on getting Reloaded and Revolutions.
I already have the boxset preordered. ;)

That sums me up. If they release just the first as an SE, I will buy just that. If Columbia House does another 55% off sale (long story) and I can get it for around $35, I may pick up the set and sell the other three.

lisadoris 10-21-04 07:49 PM

I already donated my original Matrix and the Animatrix to the local library in anticipation of the new box set.

So, I know the WB said that the current extras will not be included. Does this mean that if I get rid of my current disks I will be missing extra, or does it mean that they are on the new set in some form (extented, different order, supplemental disk, etc?) Anyone know or should I just wait? If it is all taken from the same pool of material I would love to trade these puppies in at BBV.

GregS 10-21-04 08:43 PM

double dipping

Dead Star 10-21-04 09:28 PM

Double dipping. Very excited to see the Revisited documentaries on Reloaded and Revolutions, as well as the commentaries (should be uhhh instersting)

Jamers 10-21-04 09:57 PM

So is the Ultimate Box Set going to have 10 cases or 5 cases with 2 discs in each case. I just think a 10 case box set would take up too much shelf space. Can anyone confirm?

:hscratch: Huh? Read your first sentence. Or re-read my last post. All the extras on the current discs WILL NOT BE IN THE BOX SET. If you have already watched all the features and don't feel you will ever watch them again, get rid of em. If you are a completist and have to have everything Matrix, keep them.

Mike Lowrey 10-21-04 10:31 PM

I've only ever bought the current movie discs, no Revisited or Animatrix in my collection yet. So this new box set is a no brainer. I've already given my original Matrix disc to a friend who didn't even know about the Ultimate Collection. (No Internet connection.) And I plan on giving the sequals to my sister for Christmas. She's already got the original.

Well, come to think of it, I could keep'em and use the double-slim cases for other titles with new cover-art.

Rubix 10-22-04 12:16 AM

i wonder if the original reloaded and revolutions will have slightly better quality than the new ones?

because the old ones are pretty bare bones for the movie discs and therefore like a superbit for max bitrate, whereas the new ones will have some commentaries and who knows what else.

Dabaomb 10-22-04 12:48 AM

I'm gonna trade my original 4 into BBV. I think I got the first one used for $5. I got the Animatrix for $9.99 + Tax - $5 MIR. I think I got Reloaded for $9.99 + tax from Best Buy.com when they had that $5 coupon. I got Revolutions for $19.99 + Tax - $10 MIR from Coconuts so I won't be losing much money in the trade ins.

I'm definitely gonna be picking up the new box set.

SuprVgeta 10-22-04 04:13 AM

Bought the Matrix when it first came out, don't have any of the others because I knew something like this would be coming out. Gonna get $8 from blockbuster for the Matrix, and buy this set.

Geoffrey 10-22-04 07:31 PM

I already own all 3 movies,and I don't do commentaries,or double-dips,so I guess I'll pass on this.
I'm one of the few that really liked all 3 of these, and I'll admit it's a good looking set,but I'll use the money to get things I don't have yet.

Frugal(cheap) and logical.

Big Worms 10-22-04 08:20 PM

I will be double dipping. Loved these movies!
