It IS the highest grossing movie of all time. So, there are probably more people out there that like it, then dont.

By the way, if you want to see a GOOD movie about the disaster, watch the Criterion disc 'A Night to Remember'. It even has some interesting extras.

the only film i was hoping Paramount would revisit (and i realize i'm in a sound minority here) was the '76 King Kong.
the current transfer is watchable for me on a large screen, but it could be better- and i'm well aware of the extensive deleted scenes that exist for this.
if they put out the tv cut, i wouldn't mind, since the original theatrical version is already available, and that in itself would represent a rationale for a second release...along with the fact that it would be an easy tie-in to the anticipated Jackson remake of the original .
probably not very high on their list, but still something i would be tickled to see.

Id buy a King Kong '76 SE, but I doubt Paramount will "unleash" the Extended Scenes, they have about 20-30 minutes of stuff they cut out of Deep Impact just to make it a 2 Hour movie, actual runtime is 121, but PPV & Cable edit 1 additional minute of footage to fit in a 2 Hour TimeSlot. So if they ain't gonna give us Deleted Scenes for a "Hit" I doubt the bomb-diggity-bomb King Kong will get them either, or if they do they will be 1.33:1 Full Screen versions of them

We've seen The Truman Show, Witness, Titanic, John Wayne Movies, Tommy Boy and I guess, King Kong. With Airplane and Ferris coming soon. Any word on South Park, Face Off or Braveheart?

Industry sources have slipped us some interesting information, revealing a few interesting titles that Paramount is considering for re-release as Special Collector's Editions in 2005. This information is extremely tentative, but you might keep your eyes peeled for new SCEs of Face Off, Airplane, McLintock!, Hondo, The Truman Show, Braveheart, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and maybe... just maybe... Titanic, among other titles, by the end of next year. Presumably, those films released previously on DVD in non-anamorphic widescreen will receive new HD anamorphic transfers.

Im waiting for a SCE of the first Mission Impossible Movie With Tom Cruise? The original DVD had a anamorphic transfer , 5.1 , and the trailer. But, M-I:2 got the special edition treatment when it came out. Maybe they will release it with the theatrical release of M-I:3 in May

Paramount needs to try and release more dvd titles like the ones mentioned here for SE's, and some of their other unreleased films on dvd, and be more aggressive doing so and be far less selective to boot. This year some ok stuff was released by them but they need to try to capatilize on some of their really good movies and stuff, and I think they have yet to do it or they do it in spurts. They have yet to consistently flood the market with tons of titles a month. it seems like they are cheap.

I liked to see The Relic get a good SE treatment.
Good monster flick, however the PQ is not very good at all, too dark and grainy. Hell, the trailer had a better picture quality than the movie.
