Did't see it yet. Looking forward to this one, love the first. If Universal is doing this one maybe it will be in DTS.

I saw this in the theater last week. It was incredible! It's at least as good as the first.

I'll definitely be picking this up.

Will the DVD have an English language track? Just curious, I was fine seeing it in Japanese with the subtitles.

Dreamworks has the US rights to the film so I'd assume they'd release or do they have a relationship with Universal. (sorry haven't been keeping up with DVD's other than anime.)

I'm picking up the R2 Japanese release for Innocence but I might be tempted to double dip.

Hmm... any more thoughts on the movie? It's playing at a local theater, tempted to check it out.

Here is the text from dvdanswers:

DreamWorks has set a date for the Mamoru Oshii directed anime Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence which will be arriving in shops this December. The film will be presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen along with a Japanese Dolby Digital 5.1 track. English subtitles will also be provided. The disc will be available to own from the 28th December this year, and should set you back around $29.99. I'm afraid that's just about all we know at the moment, but as soon as we hear anything else, we'll let you know.

Awesome news!

Dreamworks has the US rights to the film so I'd assume they'd release or do they have a relationship with Universal.
Universal handles the DVD distribution for Dreamworks.

Sweet. Dreamworks' Go Fish did an excellent job with their other anime title, Millenium Actress, so it'll likely be of superior quality....though I'm hoping the extras will be more involved than the Japanese release.

You know who else is salivating over the news? Bandai and Manga. Sales for Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex have been hot, and this will only boost them higher.

And is it just me, or is that a pretty quick box office to street date? Hell, pre-book for the retailers must be less than a month away!

DVD Times has a picture of the cover art that doesn't require registration to view. The cover art really is hideous. Between this and the R1 release of Avalon I'm beginning to wonder if some cover art designer has something against Oshii.

But on the flip side, it's got a director's commentary track, which is a big selling point for me.

heres the cover : i suppose its quick to release, but with artwork ready and subtitles done the announcement was just delayed til after the opening weekend (last weekend?!). personally, i would try and do something about the cover and lack of DTS but its nearby and likely to be pressing now... cover from dvdtimes.co.uk piece.
