Furthermore, as much as I like the EE's, I like them more for the extended cuts of the films themselves than the extras. There is a bit too much repetition of content for my tastes. Give me a "The Beginning" anyday.

The Cow and others like him/her -
Yes - of course - my posting was my opinion and not a scientific test moderated by experts -with a double blind sampling.
My point is that the documentary was not a penetrating/thoughtful study/reflection/interpretation of the original trilogy. We don't need a PR peace. We like the films. We bought them. We don't need to be sold a bill of goods.
The Hitchcock docs on the latest set are incisive studies of films that some people consider marginal - or less important than the Star Wars films. The fact that those 20 minutes docs told us more about filmmaking than a 2 1/2(?) hour feature film - is very disapointing.
Ken Burns has made some thought proving movies before. This isn't one of them. It was a waste of an opportunity to have intervieved so many key people in the movie and come up with a history that isn't that different than the book Skywalking (for example).
I remember watching mini docs at a star wars exhibit - that was better than this.
I wanted to like it. But didn't.
