ST: Voyager S4 discs...

I bought Voyager yesterday and I was not shocked to find that the first disc has scuff (not serious enough to be called scratch) marks on it. Each season of this show has had either cracked discs, scratches or packaging that looked like it was abused.

TNG *never* gave this much trouble. What's the difference? Well, MADE IN MEXICO is now clearly stamped on almost all Paramount product.

Outsourcing this to a third world country obviously is impacting quality control. If Paramount insists on doing their DVD work south of the border they should at least take more care.

What can we do?

Mexico isn't exactly what I would call a third world country. Mexico isn't the problem. The cheap ass plastic Paramount chose to use is.

What can we do? Return it and demand a replacement. I think that is one reason Fox went with the thin DVD cases for their sets now, because so many people had similar problems with Buffy and other sets that folded out and would have shattered hubs. Once the studios see how many returns they get, they will look into other ways to package their DVDs and mininize the number of defective returns they get.

Have you ever been to Juarez?

I just can't return an entire set because one disc has a scuff on the non-playing side.

I will contact Paramount and express my displeasure.

I thought you had cracked discs. I guess that was a different set. What did you do in those situations?

With regard to the...

cracked discs, I did return the set. There were at least two which had awful cracks around the inner ring.

I have a small scuff on one of the discs. I just have given up on expecting perfect discs. If is a REALLY BAD scratch, then I, of course, return it. It all becomes too much of a hassle!

I have had good luck with the DS 9 and Voyager discs...so far... but bad luck with Fox and MPI TV sets...let us know if u get anywhere contacting Paramount...I was never able to get any positive response from Fox about this issue:"Return it to the retailer" is the standard reply... I do have better luck picking up mint sets at Suncoast than Best Buy...dont know if this helps but I'll spend 5-10 more at Suncoast and get it back in Replay points rather than purchase multi disc sets at Best Buy

Guess I won't be picking up these sets anytime soon. With the high price mark and bad packaging, I'll probably wait until the next format.
