If I recall correctly, that wasn't much of a deal anyhow. You were better off financially just buying the new version of Charade without the trade-in offer at DeepDiscountDVD or just about any other online retailer.

The only difference in the re-release of Charade was the anamorphic enhancement. By contrast, the M: Special Edition is a substantial upgrade from the original barebones release (from 1998). It includes--in addition to a full restoration of the film--a commentary, numerous interviews, text supplements, a short film by Claude Chabrol, etc.

With all this "added value" I don't think there's anyway in hell that Criterion would (or should) offer a discount to owners of the first release.

Apparently Turner Classic Movies will be showing "M" in Oct, so for those of you that haven't seen the film can watch it and then judge for yourselves whether to pick up the disc or not.

I have never seen "M", but I have watched Lang's Mabuse films and loved them. Looking forward to watching "M." If "M" is even close to the brilliance of the Mabuse films, then it will be a definite preorder for me.

"M" is brilliant. Feel free to order it with no hesitations.
