I try to, but I'm currently taking care of my backlog and hope to have that taken care of by late October of Thanksgiving at the absolute latest.
I've slowed down my purchasing lately (only picking up a few essentials) and since late August, have knocked off probably about 30-35 titles from my backlog.

I will usually watch newly purchased dvds within a week. usually. SW:OT, I watched all three features and all featurettes and the feautre documentary within 4 days.

I don't have enough time to watch all the discs I get immediately, unfortunately. This is especially true in the past couple of years since I have started watching a lot of TV-on-DVD whihc is even worse.

While I do tend to watch newly bought DVDs within the first two or three weeks if I have time, if I don't get to it then I end up not watching it for a long time.... It just get to be hard to keep up

Since I buy everything off the net, I have to watch it to make sure all the discs work, because if they don't and my time to get a replacement has expired, then I'm screwed.
In fact disc 5 of my Alias S3 is totally screwed, so I have to get another one from Amazon. Lucky I wanted to watch Hourglass
I don't usually have any problems since I don't buy many DVD's at a time anyway.

i used to bring the dvds home and leave them in a pile. now things have changed. i think everyone should watch their dvds as soon as they get home. not just to watch the movie, but to check if there are any problems with the disc. say if you buy a movie and don't watch it for a month or two, then fire it up, and the movie skips or something, what can you do? you can't exchange it anymore.

Absolutely not. I like having a selection anytime that I feel like it. at any given time, I probably have 15-20 unwatched that I can choose from.

It entirely depends on the disc for me. Often there is a title that I have just been dying to see so when it comes in I immediately rip off the shrink wrap and dig in. More often than not, though, if I put on a DVD right after I got it, it is usually to watch the extra features.

Most of the time I do but occasionally something gets shelved for one reason or another and sits around for awhile. Recently though, during this dead time of purchasing [not much coming out that I really want right now], I'm trying to go back through and "catch up" not only on the those DVDs that are completely unwatched, but all the special features as well.

Usually I do... If I buy too many on a week one or two might get lost in the suffle for a few weeks.
EXAMPLE I got Eddie Murphy's RAW on it's release day, same as Clerks X, Dawn of the Dead: UE & a few others, and I plan to watch RAW some time next week.

It depends on the title. Right now I have about 5 titles I still need to watch:
Mean Girls
Footloose
Hidalgo
Master & Commander (picked it up used)
The Missing (picked it up used)

we very rarely watch something as soon as we get it. on the last upgrade i made of our dvd database i added a column to tell if we'd seen it before. this also makes it a little easier to decide what to watch. i can arrange all of the movies by if i've seen it or if eric has seen it or if neither of us have seen it.
sometimes with tv shows we watch them really fast. it seems like we watched the entire first season of curb your enthusiasm in the first day or two, but we've had family guy forever and have just made it to season two....
a lot of times we decide what to watch by how long it is too. after i get movies arranged by who has seen it we can arrange it by length and then pick something out....

Well, let's see .... last week for instance, I received the SW box set, La Dolce Vita, 7 titles fron YesAsia, another 5 from Layoyo, and 3 titles from DVDEmpire - so no, I didn't watch them all "immediately". Chances are that they all will get viewed within a few weeks of purchase, so I'm never that far behind.
Every now and then I get a title that goes unwatched for a longer period of time - almost always a movie I already know quite well, and am simply waiting for the right "mood" (whatever the hell that means). My SE of The Great Escape, for example, is still unopened.

Almost always watch a newly purchased DVD that same night. Partly because I bought the damn thing and really want to see it, partly because I want to make sure everything is tip top with the disc. (I rarely buy more than a single title at a time so this is easier for me to do, I suppose.)

Depends on the movie.
If it is something I really want to see, yes.
If I want to see it but there is no rush, it may take a while (couple of months to a few years)
If it gets buried, God knows.
