I don't have a widescreen t.v., so I have no reason to upgrade with this weak slate of extras. Waiting for commentary and original animated short.

GameGenie 10-25-05 07:55 PM

It is a shame no milton shorts and commentary, those were the two things i was realy hoping to have on the dvd.

Cameron 10-25-05 11:25 PM

you know what should have come with this special edition...

two chicks at one time...

Nice.

Too good of a price to pass up for the set. Anyone know how many of these are being made? Want to make sure I can pick one up at a BB store.

It doesn't matter if your TV is 4:3 or 16:9, what matters is the transfer is improved, so you will notice a better picture on a 27" 4:3 TV and a 64" 16:9 DLP TV. It is now anamorphic as well, but that only helps 16:9 TVs.

Slowpc 10-26-05 08:03 PM

I am sure , since it is a BB set .. .they will make a bunch.

Gizmo 10-29-05 02:57 PM

Just a heads up guys...

I just traded in my old copy of Office Space for $6 at Blockbuster....thats a REALLY good price to get rid of our old release copy.

- Coffee Mug - no... it is not what you all think it will be (innitech) but has Lumbergh on the front with his mug going "xxxxxxxxx" (can't read it on the back of the box)
- Magnet picture frame - Post-it designs on it. Looks about 4x6 or 5x7
- Notepad - TPS reports it looked like
- Pen/Pencil - Bic - style

Well.. we at work wished it had some more to it... and included the REAL stapler, but maybe they thought it would be too costly to add.

That is my report.... and yes... I did get the memo....

Does the stapler at least look like the movie one? As in design and size? Or is it some little toy the size of a thumb?

I was a little disappointed with some of the downloads (included on the actual disc and present on both releases), but the many audio clips were kind of fun.

Also, people who hate subtitles being captioned for the hearing impaired are going to be pissed off.

packaok 10-29-05 09:40 PM

Heads up: I just picked this up at a local, national chain retailer. I didn't want the Best Buy set anyway, so it was nice being able to snag it prior to street date.

Slowpc 10-29-05 11:31 PM

It is maybe about 2/3 the size of the orginal. It is not that small thing posted above.

matome 10-30-05 06:31 AM

That looks cool. I'll be picking it up at BB. Thanks for the pic.

GameGenie 10-30-05 10:30 AM

Im definently picking up at BB now.

Slowpc 10-30-05 11:37 AM

There we go, much easier to describe with the picture now.

Gizmo 10-30-05 01:38 PM

No Slipcase with the boxset? Boo...

Zodo 10-30-05 04:06 PM

I think I'm going to pass on the box set now. I don't see any reason for paying $10 extra for stuff that's going to sit there collecting dust.

MasterCXtreme 10-30-05 09:00 PM

Thanks a lot for the pic... very cool. Gonna have to get this.

Damn I'm such a sucker.

reubs82 10-30-05 09:35 PM

There were some fullscreen copies of this out early at the Potomac Yards in Northern Virginia today. Those who don't like black bars: get there now to be the first on your block w/ an SE of this cult classic in MAR.

I kinda feel the same way. It looks cool and all, but will I ever use it....probably not. I guess I could use it at the office, but is it $10 cool?

seymouru 10-31-05 10:50 AM

The stapler, even at 2/3 size, is $10 cool to me. And it will get used. The other items are just gravy. Yeah, they might just collect dust on my desk, but at least they'll bring a smile once in a while.

rexinnih 10-31-05 11:14 AM

Picking it up on Tuesday and plan to have the desk at work decorated right away!

Bill Needle 10-31-05 12:52 PM

I'd pay $10 for the coffee mug alone if it just had the Initech corporate logo on it.

Definite dealbreaker.

I'm down for the disc only.

musick 10-31-05 03:09 PM

went to Quiznos today and at the counter they had some forms for "Office Space Special Edition With Flair! Dvd/Quiznos Sub $3 Rebate Mail-In Offer"

it says
to receive your rebate by mail, send:
proof of purchase tab from the Office Space Special Edition with Flair dvd and original sales receipt (dated between 11/1/05 and 1/6/06).
Complete name, mailing address, city, state and zip code (written on this mail in certificate).
email and phone number are optional

not sure if I want to cut up any part of my packaging unless this has a small proof of purchase tab enclosed in the packaging that will not be visably missing.

also wondering if this rebate comes in the form of a check for $3 or some type of $3 coupon for Quiznos as I don't see the tie-in other than them having the rebate form

I don't have a Chotchkie's in my neck of the woods so I don't know if they have the same offer as Quiznos :eyebrow:

dvd_luver 10-31-05 03:28 PM

IMO, only do an upgrade if you have a 16:9 widescreen tv, or are a fan. Otherwise, there is not enough extra material here to make it seem like an upgrade for regular 4:3 tv viewers if you have the 1st OS - WS pressing.

If you are a fan or don't already own it, it's ok.

Thanks for the tip. That'll go along nicely with the $5 Robots/Office Space rebate rebate.

I'm not familiar with the terms of that rebate but this one says in small print "not valid in conjunction with any other offer"

bboisvert 10-31-05 03:54 PM

Damn, I was really holding out for that Best Buy set. But, the coffee mug is not at all what I was expecting, the DVD itself seems to lack the slipcover, and the other stuff I'd never use. I think I'll save the $10 and just get the non-box. Damn, this release has disappointed me twice now. :(

matome 10-31-05 05:59 PM

I just picked up the LE from Best Buy. The DVD DOES have the slipcover. The coffee mug is really heavy ceramic and has the Office Space SE logo on one side and Gary Cole on the other (as pictured above). The stapler is nice sized (about 4.5" long) in it's own white box and says "Office Space" on the top. The actual box is really big as well (think Kill Bill Japanese box x2).

Well worth the $10 extra IMO.

bboisvert 10-31-05 06:06 PM

What is Gary Cole saying on the mug?

costanza187 10-31-05 06:13 PM

 I want this!

I just got the gift box in the mail:
  • The outer box is supposed to be a replica of a beat-up old file cabinet, which got some help from the piss-poor packaging BB sent it in. It was floating around loose in a padded envelope that was way too big to provide any real protection. So the beat-up effect is very much enhanced.
  • The stapler is about 4½ inches long and about 2 inches high, with the Office Space logo on top (no evidence that it's a Swingline).
  • The mug is pretty much normal size, with Gary Cole on one side, and the Office Space Special Edition with Flair! logo on the other.
  • The mouse pad is a replica of a Chotchkie's uniform, with a bunch of flair on the suspenders -- mostly buttons with pictures of the cast.
  • The memo pad has the Initech logo and "Initech TPS Report Cover Sheet" written on top. On the bottom is a picture of a dead fish and the Office Space logo.
  • The DVD does come with a slipcase.
Here are a couple of quick pics...

I am glad I got this one now. I just wish it was here already. I am jealous. Thanks for the pics to tide me over though.

darmok 11-01-05 08:58 AM

picked up a set this morning. it's a heavy set (with all those goodies inside!) the size of the set reminds me of the salt&pepper Seinfeld box, but the cardboard construction is not as sturdy. can't wait to get home tonight to rip it open!

DJ_Longfellow 11-01-05 09:14 AM

Well, I have to decide now....I was yes, no, now maybe. I still think the stuff will collect dust for me. Maybe if I was a coffee drinker.

Michael T Hudson 11-01-05 09:54 AM

Does anyone know how limited the gift set is?

darmok 11-01-05 10:00 AM

i wouldn't wait too long. BB exclusives can dry up overnight, or can be around for a short (few months?) while. but eventually they sell out.
