Don't forget the most important thing about this release, the fact that it's anamorphic.

Yeah, my Best Buy didn't even have any of the "single disc" version (on the floor at least) at noon today. Tons of big-ass boxes with the trinkets, though...

TomOpus 11-01-05 06:57 PM

I decided to forego the gift box for the regular release. There's a $5 MIR if you buy a Swingline from swingline.com

Cameron 11-01-05 07:31 PM

well the gift box is tagged 22.99... i think i will hold off a week to see if it goes on sale...and to replenish the wallet

xage 11-01-05 07:41 PM

I got an info from the Best Buy Store Manager that the entire production run of the exclusive set is at 15,000 ?

Can anybody double confirm this?

scottp120 11-01-05 07:55 PM

I told myself that i wasn't going to get the gift set, but ended up getting it anyway. Oh well. One of my favorite movies of all time so an extra $10 isn't that big of a deal especially since I had $5 RZ coupon and $6 in McDonald's Monopoly money.

Slowpc 11-01-05 08:02 PM

That number of 15,000 could be true. I don't see them continuing to produce it, and only a single run would be good for them to make the money off of it. A few thousand stores getting another 70or something gives you that number. But... you never know... he/she could have just made that number up.

bboisvert 11-01-05 08:18 PM

15,000 sounds about right to me... how many were you expecting??

kurt_fire 11-01-05 08:45 PM

I'm going to just order it online from Amazon for $13.99.

Again anyone in Canada bought this know if it's bilingual?

The Turbanator 11-01-05 09:30 PM

It IS bilingual.

Where is Padme? Is she okay? (in your best cheesy/out place voice)

DJ_Longfellow 11-02-05 06:35 AM

So, if it's 15,000...do you think I should hang on to my second one or return it? I see a few sets on EBAY...the highest is $24.99.

uteotw 11-02-05 08:31 AM

So "Samir's" accent was totally fake? Hilarious.
Cool retrospective with nearly all the cast, but overall perhaps the most disappointing v. most anticipated "Special Edition" out there.
Still, picture looks great and the anamorphic is a must, so it'll do.

movieking 11-02-05 08:36 AM

I ended up getting the gift set since I love this movie so much. I hate the God damn bilingual packaging though.

rexinnih 11-02-05 08:43 AM

Got my gift set and love it!

Agreed. The anamorphic picture looks much better, the deleted scenes were cool, and the documentary is actually very well-done. Honestly, if they had included a commentary and the Milton shorts, this would have been a total slam dunk.

ShagMan 11-02-05 10:19 AM

I have to say that this release has some of the best DVD menus I've seen!

Gcomeau 11-02-05 10:36 AM

To all canucks out there buy from DDD.com. That's what i've been doing for over 2 years when needed. Can't wait to receive this along with Titanic 3 disc and War of the Worlds (1953). BTW the duty isn't that bad. For this order above it'll probably around or just above 10$. In the end you might be paying a little bit more but it's worth it. Believe me. {DAMN GOV'T; don't they have bigger fish to fry?!?} You can also buy from amazon.ca if the ASIN number matches the amazon.com number but otherwise it's bilingual.

On weeks to come, prices soars up as soon the supply/source get lesser and lesser from Bestbuy

Snowmaker 11-02-05 11:21 AM

Just got back from my Best Buy, they had a TON of the gift sets sitting there.

Ok, I may hang on to it then for a few weeks...I can always return it then if I see EBAY not having a demand for it.

Hi
Sorry to quote with the picture but I have a quick question. I have been lurking here for a couple of weeks now and decided to join in on the postings finally. I also picked up the office space with the extras at bestbuy yesterday (my bestbuy had about 40 of them) and am really digging the extra stuff. My question is I see in your pic an AVP set of some kind...I have never seen this before..whats in it and where did it come from? I see from some other posts I already missed out on some kind of TommyBoy set like the office space one and I don't want to miss out on anymore like that! THanks!

Neil
