Office Space SE - 11/1

This has been rumored to come out as an SE almost as much as Goodfellas was. So, is there any news at all?

Al Padrino 09-24-04 10:16 PM

No idea, so I'm probably gonna wind up getting the current disc just because I'm more interested in the movie at this point than a possible SE that's been rumored since I joined the board.

Jackskeleton 09-24-04 10:46 PM

This is fox folks. I can say that in the coming future you will see a lot of re-releases and double dipping. I wouldn't be surprised if it was by early next year. At the price of the current one it's not to bad to pick up it either.

SWR 1 09-24-04 11:16 PM

I haven't picked up the current release hoping for a SE. If the SE isn't released or announced by the end of January than I probably will pick up the current release since its pretty cheap at $12 or so.

ENDContra 09-25-04 12:08 AM

The UK Region 2 release is anamorphic I believe. I dunno, maybe I should buy it so the Region 1 SE will be announced :).

Cornholio 09-25-04 10:32 AM

i heard mike judge saying its not gonna come out and i also heard him say its possible so it may come out and IMO would make alot of money but dont count on it. imagine how funny the deleted scenes are.

Brain Stew 09-25-04 11:09 AM

The development is kind of in limbo now.

Judge got all huffy when Fox came to him about doing a special edition. He started demanding money to do it, since the theatrical run earned jack shit. The suits at Fox of course thought it ridiculous to pay him money to do a special edition, so it is stuck for the time being.

I take the side of Fox, personally.

Cornholio 09-25-04 11:15 AM

yes i do want it to come out but i just dont know if its happening. however it would be great cause office space is a bare bones disc and i would love to see the making of, interviews with mike judge, deleted and extended scenes, tv spots, etc. i heard that fox wanted him to do a sequal. that would be a little out there. if they ever do a sequal i hope to god they dont mess it up.

scott shelton 09-25-04 11:36 AM

He has a new film coming next year. Maybe something will be timed with that release.

Cornholio 09-25-04 12:01 PM

he has two movies coming out

2559(forget if thats exact title)
meat in the freezer

cultshock 09-25-04 12:15 PM

I finally just picked up the current disc at Walmart for $9.88 Canadian. At that price, I won't mind double-dipping down the road if a SE ever happens.

You're kidding, right? Would you go back and do a bunch of extra work for free if one of your ex-bosses found a way to make more money of of something you did for them in the past - something they treated you like crap about?

calhoun07 09-25-04 01:22 PM

I don't care about the deleted scenes nearly as much as the Milton shorts from Saturday Night Live. They might as well scrap any and all plans for the SE if they can't secure those. Most deleted scenes on DVDs just proove why they sucked enough to be cut. Rare is the deleted scene that is pure gold.

I heard the rumored sequel was to take place mostly in a TGIFridays type of restaurant and expand upon that spoof from the first.

Um, no, just the one film. It was called "3000" at one point.

They aren't his former bosses. Judge is in development of other movies with Fox and has a television program distributed through their television wing.

It sounds selfish to me personally. Instead of producing a quality product for the fans and really doing something nice for people who liked his movie, he rather dwell and punish the people that didn't like it when it came out in theatres. I am not saying Fox should have carte blanche to treat him like shit, but I don't think Judge should treat the fans like shit either.

Got_Criterion 09-25-04 02:45 PM

I read in an issue of Entertainment Weekly (cult edition) that Fox has approached him on a number of occassions with offers for a follow-up sequel to the film.

He personally said the film wasnt what he wanted. That alot of the material that he shot in daily's were flat out rejected for one reason or another.

And it would be a cold day in hell before he made another 'Office Space' like film for Twentith Century Fox.

I'm going to go thru and look the article up and scan it .

asianxcore 09-25-04 02:53 PM

Well I guess this is a good time for me to finally pick up the release thats out now then. :)

um no actulley your wrong in his last 2 recent interviews he said he changed the name from 3000 because futurama nerds were pissed. also he got signed for 2 movies by fox and those are the current titles of the 2.i think i would know. i run a beavis and butthead site and a koth site and office space is my fav movie. ive read every recent mike judge interview and thats what he said. you just got owned.

Big Worms 09-25-04 03:32 PM

Sometimes you can find it on sale for like 10 bucks. Just pick it up and if they ever decide to release a SE verion, then you just double dip.

God, I love the Internet. Because that tome of plot holes and crummy spelling ends with "You just got owned".

But especially because I read the interview where Judge said that "3000", and "3001", was never a real title, but just a working title, but it would make no sense, because the movie was never going to be set in that time period, because he *knew* that 'Futurama' had already done that exact year and a similar plot, and that 'Futurama' nerds were actually getting upset needlessly over the title so he just wanted to officially say that it wasn't the title.

costanza187 09-25-04 05:31 PM

This is a movie I woud probably be willing to re-buy... and that's saying something only other movie Ive bought twice was Boogie Nights.

Bill Needle 09-25-04 06:39 PM

Anamorphic would be nice.

"Uhm...yeah...Special Edition...about that...yeah...well I don't know..."

C'mon, Mike! Put those TPS reports down and get on this SE! Don't be a Lumbergh!

Hamburger3 09-25-04 07:09 PM

Every other release of this movie was anamorphic except R1.

I have the R2 so Im happy.

Jaime_Weinman 09-26-04 07:44 PM

Um, no, just the one film. It was called "3000" at one point.
In his latest interview, Judge says he's considering calling it 2505 with a tagline like "If you think the world's getting dumb now, wait five hundred years." I think at one point it was also going to be called Uhmerica. But yeah, he specifically wanted to mention in that other interview that 3001 was just a working title and it was never supposed to take place in 3001. (As I understand it, the point of the movie is not the same as the Futurama episode; the premise of Judge's movie is that smart people aren't having enough kids and dumb people are having too many, so by 2505, humans have devolved, and Luke Wilson's character, an ordinary guy from 2005, is the smartest person in the world.)
