James Stewart DVDs

James Stewart did over 70 films..Does anyone know anything about any future Jimmy Stewart DVD releases? I would love 7th Heave, Carbine Williams, Broken arrow, and many many others. I wish more of his stuff would come out.

I love Broken Arrow! It's one of my all time favorites. I've been counting the days, months, etc. waiting for this release. Hopefully in the near future espically with the release of Arrowhead another favorite of mine being released in a couple of months this will follow suit. I'd get this the minute it would come out.

I've hard a hard time finding Carbine Williams even on VHS! If it's released on DVD, I'll be very happy, but I'm not holding my breath.

I've got Winchester '73, Bend Of The River, The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance, and The Man From Laramie on DVD. They are all great.

I'm hoping to get Night Passage soon.

If I remember correctly, isn't Vertigo a non-anamorphic widescreen release on DVD currently? That's one I've never seen, but I'd like to.

I'm hoping to be able to get The Naked Spur on DVD before too long - that one is considered by many to be his best Western.

Jimmy Stewart was great - he was able to fit in to many genres and make it seem like each one was his specialty. One of the greatest actors of all time.

Carbine Williams has never been released on VHS, that's why. There is a good copy available regularly on ebay, the best I have found for this movie.

This is correct, it is non-anamophic but it really is an excellent DVD otherwise. I picked it up via Columbia House where it is available for enrollment.

There are two new James Stewart films coming in March. Fox is releasing Call Northside 777 March 15 as part of their new Film Noir series, and Warner is issuing a new 2 disc special edition of the Philadelphia Story on March 1. Only Call Northside 777 is new to DVD, but a 2 disc release of Philadelphia Story is still a highly anticipated release for me, especially with Warner's excellent track record over the past several years with classic films.

You should get that and Rear Window. Also Anatomy of a Murder, one of his best.

Still waiting on an announcement for The Naked Spur on DVD...

Hope I'm not waiting too long.

(I'm probably going to hold out for an anamorphic version of Vertigo - with widescreen TV's becoming more common a remastered version enhanced for widescreen TV's shouldn't be more than, say, 5 or 6 years off. Hopefully it comes sooner than that, though...)

universal also did a 5 disc box last year, that is worth a purchase if you don't have the films

Can't believe one person who posted didn't notice Philadelphia Story was mentioned. Add Flight of the Phoenix to the list.

The topic is about Stewart films NOT on DVD. We all know how great the above mentioned films are.
