Batman SE is in the works!!
According to thedigitalbits.com
"Warner is currently working on a box set of all four live-action Batman films, which will include a new Batman: Special Edition. The set is being timed for release to coincide with the new Batman Begins film next year." Thank you Warner Bros. I've been waiting forever for a special edition for the first film. I really hope that the discs will eventually be sold separately, like the superman discs. |
ahhh!! I don't want the 3rd and 4th movies!
I can't wait!
So, only the first movie is getting the Special Edition treatment? I would've liked to have one for Batman Returns as well. Don't really mind Batman Forever, but could do without owning Batman & Robin. They should definitely sell 'em separately.

Yippie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I highly doubt it, but a Nicholson, Keaton and Burton commentary would be so great.
But I am just glad a SE is coming. |
I just want the first Batman! This is good news.
Just want the fist two in SE's. Would consider Forever if it was the alternate longer cut.
I had heard all the Batmans were being worked on. We'll see what happens.
shit. i hope they're available separately. i don't want B&R
I'd be happy if they did a Alien bit and did massive special editions for all four films. Yes, even Batman and Robin. Though, for that film I'd want them to explain what went wrong, and have a commentary of George Clooney mercilessly calling the movie awful (which he has stated before).
I do hope Returns gets a special edition too though. I'd double dip on that and the first one (though Returns is still my fave). |
i would only get it if the prince sound track was taken out, from what i heard tim burton did not want it and i think it sucks, i like prince but that music just does not go with the film
I think the Prince soundtrack goes with the Joker really well.

I'd love to see special editions of all 4, particularly Batman and Batman Forever. I already own Batman and Batman Returns, but i'd definitely double dip.
I wouldnt mind Batman Forever if it had the extended cut.
So, does anyone know for CERTAIN whether an SE will be forthcoming for "Batman Returns"? If not, I'm going to get what's on the market now - I've been holding off, but I'd really like to have it now.
good news, glad I'm holding out from buying these.

I would buy the movie in a hot second. |
If it comes together, I'm gonna sell the last 2 and keep Batman and Batman Returns, I really hope Batman Returns has a special edition treatment since Batman Returns is better than Batman.
I aint buyin no frickin boxset just to get a SE of a movie I've seen 100 times...no sir e...I did that once (Robocop) and I aint frickin doin it again!
I repeat my promise to Warner Bros.: I'll buy the whole Batman SE box set (including the dreadful 3rd and 4th films) if they work things out with Fox so the 1966 Batman TV series can be released on DVD in 2005.
Good news for the first two films. I just hope I don't need to buy the whole set.
can't wait!
Makes sense. Glad to hear it.
I would guess all the films would receive the SE treatment. Honestly, why wouldn't they do that? I think sales would be pretty poor if they forced you to buy a whole boxset just to get a Batman SE. I certainly wouldn't buy it. Also, I hope they do this boxset the way Fox did the Alien Quadrilogy where you could buy the movies individually so I could just get Batman and Batman Returns. Although, it would be interesting to hear Schumaker do a commentary of Batman & Robin if they chose to do that.
I would get the box set, I am a big Batman fan but was not really happy with 3 & 4, hell even 2 to be honest! But I do enjoy all four movies. It would be nice to have SE of all 4 but if they only do Batman thats also fine in my book. The set will probably mirror what was done for Superman. I have held out this long for the other movies only having bought Batman (my first DVD by the way). My only issue is they MUST be anamorphic transfers with digital sound!!!
As far as buying them seperatly, they will most likely release them as a set then down the road split them up, again like Superman (although Superman was available by itself all along I think?) |
Batman SE
HOLY SPECIAL EDITION! BATMAN!!!!!!! This is great news, seeing as Tim Burton is a genius.
Give me 1 & 2. Warner Brothers can keep 3 and that softcore gay porn fiasco labeled as #4.
What was exactly cut out of the movies that could be reinserted to make them S.E.?
BATMAN & ROBIN : V.I.P. Edition, complete with rubber nipples and shot glasses, etc....

That said, 'Batman Forever' has significant cuts, check out the IMDb for more info (I've read it, but I honestly couldn't tell you anything other than there's a very different opening sequence, and the Two-Face fight that opens the movie now is from an hour or so in). Also, there's some minor cut on the 'Batman' widescreen DVD which is out now (but not the fullscreen side), from what I understand, but I don't think that would count. |
Loved first 2 movies. 3rd was not bad. 4th was Satan in movie form.

I liked the two Burton films OK and didn't really care for the Schumacher ones. But that Adam West series -- man, that's where it's at! |
Hmm. Do you suppose they'll superimpose Clooney into the first 3 for "continuity"?
About time.
Now, if WB gives them all breand-new anamorphic transfers and DTS tracks, I'll be extremely happy. |

If anyone at WARNER BROS. is listening, please find a way to include the superb 20/20 segment that aired shortly before Batman premiered in '89. It gives a very nice overview of the production with Bob Kane discussing the origin of the characters, the many incarnations of Batman over the years, a brief overview of Tim Burton's career, a walk through the Gothan City lot with the late production designer Anton Furst and Danny Elfman in his studio discussing the music. I'm assuming Disney owns the rights to this but its inclusion would be a gem.
Maybe the new Batman flick can use Egghead and we can see Vincent Price's face superimposed over some stunt double's face. That would be sweet. Or even better yet, we could see Liberace's Chandel CGI'd in. Now we're talking!
Looking forward to it. If they have a good deal on the box set, I'd buy all four instead of just the first three. Looking forward to it.
