Minas Tirth looks kind of cool in the collector's set. Don't know if its in the budget though.

Let's see, the extended edition is 250 minutes, meaning 45 of those minutes are when the credits are rolling?

Bah, I too can care less about the big box-- so material. Some people need to remember DVDs are fundamentally about the content not the “shiny” package. Also it isn't always easy to shelve box sets in the rest of your DVD collection.

A new version of the final installment in the epic trilogy! The Academy-Award® winning film now has 50 minutes of never-before-seen footage incorporated into the film for this highly-anticipated video release.

Cast commentary also features dialogue between split-personality characters Gollum and Smeagol (Andy Serkis)!
This should be funny.

Anyone know why Viggo is always absent from the commentaries?

I can't believe my name is going to be in the credits of a movie that tied the record for most Oscars ever in a single year.

I'm really interested in seeing this. Initially, PJ and company had all kinds of ideas that deviated from the original story. Some were supposedly filmed, such as Arwen at the Battle of Helms Deep. Maybe someday we'll get to see some of this footage, too.
