Thanks for the link. That's pretty much all I had already heard though. I was wondering if Moffat fleshed out the reasons beyond that. For instance, would money have made a difference? If it's a business decision, things can always be done. I wonder if it's not personal reasons because how difficult would it have been for him to make one or two appearances in the fourth series to make a cleaner, more satisfying exit? Not very.

I had also read that supposedly Coyle didn't want to get pigeon-holed as Jeff, but did he make a "I'm bigger than the show that made me huge" mistake, sort of becoming the McLean Stevenson of the BBC. I don't know enough about his other BBC projects. I do know because of the short series lengths BBC actors sometimes appear on several series' simultaneously. Since I'm not familiar with his other body of work, I wonder if he is nearly as well received for it.

It's his career, and he's entitled to do with it as he wishes, but I sure miss Jeff.

That's what I had heard.

Frankly, I had low expectations for S4 w/o Coyle. I was very pleasantly surprised with what Moffat turned out.
