Are you satisfied with the condition of the box of Star Wars Trilogy?

all the boxes at my local BB had dents, nicks of some sort. i had to go thru about ten or so to get one that was just right. didn't help that these boxes are foil-etched, making dents and scratches that much more apparent. they are fragile, compared to the ones used by Paramount for the Indy trilogy.
i'm also a little crazy when it comes to boxsets. i usually like to keep the shrinkwrap on somehow as an added layer of protection from shelf wear.

Thankfully i got a perfect one...
I really wish they would have done like Paramount and used the Indy style box. Now that's a good strong box that should last.

I was astounded at the box. I mean, I read here that it was flimsy and whatnot. But jeez, this isn't even worth thinking about keeping. Cereal comes in a stronger box. I need to pick up an aftermarket box, where's the best place for SW in particular?

You can discover by a simple listen to the commentary track of one of the many interviews on Alien within the Alien Quadrilogy that none of the studios were the least bit interested in Alien until Star Wars turned out to be a HUGE hit. That is why if it weren't for Star Wars, there would be no Alien.

I like the cases but the box is really thin and susceptible to creases and tearing. Even though I am completely thrilled with the content I was expecting a little bit better packaging.
The thing that is glued to the outside of the box is a big mistake. Wait till this glue sits on the shelf a few months and see how well it peels off the cover art. As it was it was hard to peel off without tearing the box.

Yes, it's a crappy box, so prone to getting banged and creased that practically none will look good no matter where you buy from. Darn. Oh well. I hope some great custom covers get created. And I hope we can actually download them from somewhere.

Yeah I stood at the display case at Wally World for a good 10 minutes trying to find at least a decent one...no way would someone find a mint box. When i got home and removed special features side cover..three dings...sucks! They should have used the Indy set design.

BAD BOX DESIGN
For a triolgy everyone has been dying for they sure made this thing cheap. Whoever did the dvds did a VERY BAD JOB. Almost everyone I've talked to has problems with theirs skipping.
I think the out box design is on the cheap side too. Why couldn't they have made some nice felt box or something that you would actually want to keep and display.
I'm going to return mine and wait for a new improved version!!

Be prepared to wait a while, from the interview with the DVD producer, it looks like there will be no more release until the 30th anniversary in 2007. Plus, who knows, maybe it will be in a flimsy box as well.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but isn't the inner sleeve type box supposed to slide out of the thin silver outer box? I carefully cut the plastic film around the flap opening on the side and planned to slide out the inner sleeve box, keeping the thin outer sliver box wrapped in plastic. The thing is when I try to slide the inner box out, the back side seems to be glued to the outer box, and it will not come out. Am I missing something?

The box for the Alien set is a textbook example of what NOT to do, in my opinion.
I have no problem with the Star Wars box. Got it in mint condition from Amazon. Pulled out the inner box. Removed the silver 'widescreen'/specs piece that was glued on. And backed the inner box into the outer slipcover so the keepcase spines are facing out. Took about 10 seconds and it doesn't look any worse/better than 99% of my boxed sets. Nothing to write home about, but I have no complaints either.

I'm not at all happy with the box.
I got mine from Amazon today. The top left corner on the side that has the IV, V, VI is crushed. I was getting ready to send an email to Amazon that the box is damaged when I came across this thread.
Looks like even if I go through the bother of exchanging it I may end up with the same problem so I'll probably just keep what I have. I'd rather have a box in good condition but it's not like I stare at the DVD's on my shelf anyhow so I guess it won't bother me much.
