Are you satisfied with the condition of the box of Star Wars Trilogy?

I think 2 people have mentioned this but every single box at Best Buy had a nick or a dent or a crease somewhere.

I went to Frys to and they were worse.

Why couldn't they make a box made with stronger cardboard or leather (which would be even better :))?

I am a freak and need help and I am going to another Best Buy and buy the dvds again on Weds if they boxes are in better condition and return the original ones I bought today but not with the receipt I used for the price match.

This is the best opportunity to get one close to perfect since they are obviously going to have more available during the 1st week.

Hopefully I won't return until the Day After Tomorrow, Shrek 2, Spiderman 2, and Van Helsing are released so I can hibernate during the winter and avoid shopping for dvds.

I am waiting until December to watch the movies since that is the most wonderful time of the year.

Got mine from Amazon in perfect condish, no dents or dings to be seen.

Father Karras 09-22-04 03:20 AM

I was lucky enough to be at Best Buy when they opened and got a box in mint condition. I could see how these boxes could get easily dented and creased. I agree that they could have used a sturdier cardboard stock. The thing is pretty lightweight and flimsy...I don't think it's even as sturdy as the Indy box.

Jackskeleton 09-22-04 03:49 AM

I bought three copies and not one was nicked, dented or scratched.

Just have to be an alert consumer and get the one NOT fucked up.

I personally don't think one disk of extras is enough. Granted, it's all GREAT stuff, but Fox was willing to do NINE discs for the four Alien movies! That's 5 discs of extras! Yes Star Wars is much bigger and only gets one disc, and Alien wouldn't exist without star wars.
But the transfers/sound are great and the extras that are there are good.

PJAceto 09-22-04 05:45 AM

All of the boxes I saw at CC were crushed a bit. The box itself has a peculiar design and the cardboard if flimsy. I'll probably just toss it.

Max Bottomtime 09-22-04 06:24 AM

Mine was in perfect shape until I shoved it in the trash can. I don't feel the need to save cheap cardboard covers.

roger_d 09-22-04 06:33 AM

I had to look through the ones at BB to find one that didn't have any nicks or scratches. Shame though, the box is very flimsy.

Lara Means 09-22-04 06:41 AM

It's a shitty box with lousy slapped-together covers for each film when the release posters would have worked just fine. They should've taken a hint from

TomOpus 09-22-04 06:47 AM

Mine's fine... in fact, the first one I grabbed was in good shape.

Rocinante67 09-22-04 06:50 AM

From a packaging standpoint, I'd take the Star Wars box set over Alien Quadrilogy. The Star Wars movies are in regular Amaray Keepcases that match the look of Episodes 1 & 2 with a double cardboard cover. Most people's complaints are that the outer cover is thin which is true but to compare it to the Indy box is not fair. The inside slipcover of Star Wars is the same as the Indy box. As for the Alien Quadrilogy set, I was happy to find custom artwork on the 'Net to replace that huge unfolding monstrosity. Plus, after opening the Alien box several times, the glue holding the digipacks to the cover was already coming undone on my set.

mikewendt 09-22-04 07:45 AM

As far as the condition of the boxes, they're fine. As for the cover art choices for each film, SHIT! That's just how I feel, they should have used the original poster art. At least they put them on the discs themselves.

Alien wouldn't exist without Star Wars? Why is that?

As for the box,it could have been better but no big deal to me.I'm sure the next release will have a better box.

Masamune 09-22-04 08:42 AM

Yeah, the box sucks.

What was wrong with the Indy box??

movieking 09-22-04 08:48 AM

The box does suck. I first thought that all were dented in, not realizing that it was Vader's face, etc. After realizing that, I noticed that most of the other boxes had other defects in them as well. Oh well.

JupiterPrime 09-22-04 08:52 AM

whose using the box? who hasnt replaced those horrible covers with customs? who hast move the bonus disc in with their ROTJ in a slim double?

Alien = in a not extremely distant future, in our very own galaxy....

about the only similarity between Alien and SW is....space....and more than one episode

nemein 09-22-04 09:09 AM

I think natevines is making the argument that Star Wars created the "atmosphere" in the studio system that allowed other sci-fi movies, like Alien, to be made. Considering they are two completely different genres though and creature features/slashers were kind of popular in the 70s I'm not sure I completely agree, but I see the point.

dom56 09-22-04 09:18 AM

I also got mine from Amazon, no damaged, but was disappointed that the box was flimsy, wish Fox made a better boxset like Indiana Jones.

PixyJunket 09-22-04 09:42 AM

Box.

fazeem 09-22-04 09:47 AM

At the Frys in Pasedena, there were a ton of copies that were cut, as in the idiot opening the boxes with a box cutter cut right through the cardboard box and the cardboard dvd case. Idiot.

Demontooth 09-22-04 09:58 AM

you guys are nuts! I bent the box up ripping the plastic off.

toccoa_winters 09-22-04 10:33 AM

the ones at my best buy were all in great shape. i was a little suprised actually. i was expecting to have to look through all the boxes to find a perfect box.

pingie 09-22-04 10:40 AM

Went to BB, look thoroughly for a mint boxset and thought I found it until I got home and look carefully for the hell of it and there were dents and such...sheesh...Thinking of throwing away the box but I like the design so I don't know as of yet.
