My take on it is that Anakin Skywalker died when Darth Vader was "born". So when you see Anakin's ghost at the end, it is the young version of him, because that's when he "died". Obi-wan died when he was an old man, so that's what his spirit looks like.

one SFX shot which is technically I would state is a flaw reappears on this DVD edition:
in "Empire" after 3PO asks Leia "ma'am where are we going", the Falcon does a giant loop into the asteroid crater, there is white box that vertically rolls up the screen in the background starfield, this was very apparent on the early laserdisc versions of the film, then 'almost' completely erased for the 1997 Laserdisc Special Edition, and now again is apparent on the DVD edition. It's a strange light effect, that I have always noticed.

see, i always believed that vader redeemed himself by killing the emperor and having that little heart to heart with Luke before the 2nd Death Star exploded. That was Sebastian Shaw's Anakin that became the good guy at the end, not Hayden's. Just seems a little contradictory.

There were still traces of Anakin still lurking inside Vader -- something that Luke had sensed, but the Emperor probably did not. Anakin would age accordingly, which was why originally he appeared at his current age, albeit rejuvented, in the end celebration. Maybe there's a scene in Episode III following the lightsaber battle, in which Anakin is near death, and Obi-Wan does something via the Force to try to save him or his soul? I'm not sure if Anakin repents and does that himself, unless he reailzes the gravity of the decisions he's made to this point. I guess a Jedi can make the soul one with the Force at any moment, even if death is not imminent.
One change that I'm glad was made was correcting the Imperial officer uniforms from TESB. In some scenes, they flipped the image, which caused their rank insignia to be on the left instead of the right.

So many people are complaining about adding more here and extending a scene 2 seconds there. More is good. Look at it this way... he could have taken stuff out.
