From what I've heard, the video is a new transfer, but the DD5.1 track is not.

The features don't sound great.

Hopefully Laurent B. who did the other DePalma films was involved.

Yikes.
Looks like this "special edition" DVD is just a lot of talk and a badge.
My apologies.

cheers.

Has De Palma ever recorded a full length commentary for any of his movies?

Ugh. I was hoping some of those dreadful foley effects would be fixed. And I was hoping for a DTS track.

I sold my barebones edition in anticipation of this. Guess I needn't have bothered, as I never saw any problems with the transfer. Special Edition? Stinks like a whorehouse at low tide...

I'm not sure that he hasn't, but the only movie of his I've ever seen with "commentary" listed on the package was 'Mission to Mars'. [I don't own it, and the package doesn't specify who gives the commentary, so I don't know whether he's on it or not.]

Personally, I don't mind that much; from his movies, de Palma is much better at telling things visually than verbally.

I'm I incorrect that the first DVD had a lot of edge enhancement? I thought I remember this. Plus with the severe dark to light in this film there were many halos?

If so, can we confirm that this new transfer will be better?
