And they did get it pretty right back then. Compared to other releases around that time, the Bond DVDs are pretty nice.

I'm only missing From Russia With Love so I won't be rebuying any big sets. Hopefully that will mean a nice supply of individual discs available to complete my collection.

Diamonds Are Forever stands out in my mind as a horrible transfer.

Will these be release as Sony Titles or MGM titles? I know Sony owns the rights now, but are they still keeping the MGM (actually united artist) logo's for exsisting movies? Thanks!

I thought MGM did a great job with the first SE releases, so I don't feel cheated at all if they up the quality a bit on the new versions. There are reasons to upgrade, but you really aren't heavily punished for standing pat and keeping the current SEs.
I'm just wondering like others if the Sony takeover may change the plans or content for the Bond rereleases.
That set would look really cool on my bookcase though.

Yes am sure,Dr. No and Goldfinger both have good transfers, while they are not state of the art(think north by northwest)they are still good transfers, and by no means bad transfers

On Goldfinger, there isn't a single shot in the movie that doesn't suffer from terrible compression artifacts. It's unwatchable on a large screen. The non-anamorphic laserdisc release looks much cleaner and overall better.

I'd like the new Thunderball release to have the one hour ABC "Incredible World of James Bond" (or something to that effect) show included. It only had a brief clip in the DVD documentary, but it looks like it was included in its entirety on one of the laserdisc releases.
