Hell, the more I think of it, I bet there are dopes on e-bay that might buy all four discs separately in the same day.

Dead, have you seen my proposal in Forum Feedback/Suggestions re: a sub-forum for the Star Wars DVD release?
I'm concerned that no one has taken the time to respond. |
Hey, look: Return of Jedi on Ebay. No, it's not my auction...I haven't even received my set.

Re: Anyone else planning on getting rid of their "Return of the Jedi" DVD?
Originally posted by Wannabe I never liked this movie and don't feel I need it as part of my DVD library. I plan on ebaying it to reduce the cost of my trilogy set. I'll probably ditch the documentary too (after I watch it). Second, do you really need the couple bucks that bad that you'd break up one of the greatest film series ever created??? Wow... more power to you wannabe
i plan on ebaying esb myself, which i thought totally sucked, i can't stand movies that end unresolved, and all that crying about who's your daddy, no death star in esb that gets blown up, come on why would you not put a death star getting blown up in this one when you had it in the other two movies, okay i am done |
lame...just lame...
I personally will be selling my disc because I'm protesting the deaths of all the innocent contractors that were killed when the unfinished death star was blown to bits. These contractors were not involved in the intergalactic war, they were just building something for a paycheck. Hell, maybe they hated palpatine's crap, but liked his cash... |
I would never do such a thing. However, I don't understand the hate. Let the dude do what he wants. I do feel that Jedi was the weakest, and if he doesn't want it, then he doesn't want it. I bought Godfather 1 and 2 without keeping the third.
|
You know, any contractor willing to work on that Death Star knew the risks. If they were killed, it was their own fault. A roofer listens to his heart, not his wallet.

Holy crap, all three movies are 5 stars, an entire trilogy, 5 stars! A FIVE STAR TRILOGY. RoTJ=The medieval majesty and subterranean gloom of dungeons as in Jabba's Palace, and the end-all TRI-battle at the end is the best. It has a taste for whichever battle you prefer, the one on one duel, the forest ground battle with each sides weapons of war, or the space battle, best ever shown!

I'm planning on getting rid of The Empire Strikes Back and keeping the other two.

Originally posted by Numanoid Sorry, that's incredibly faulty logic. When you watch Episode I do you then immediately watch II? When you watch ANH, will you then immediately watch Empire and Jedi to see what happens? Obviously not. And it's dead on perfect logic. The saga is not 3 unconnected movies like the Indy trio or the the James Bond films. It's a complete story end to end. Start, middle and conclusion. It's very much like ripping the last 10 pages from a book. but hey - it aint my discs, so I dont give a rats ass. I just think it's the biggest dumbest stupid-ass idea in the long history of stupid-ass ideas. Even if it's a weak movie (which it aint), it's still got the best space combat scene ever committed to film. |

Originally posted by El-Kabong it aint my discs, so I dont give a rats ass. Originally posted by El-Kabong The saga is not 3 unconnected movies like the Indy trio or the the James Bond films. It's a complete story end to end. Start, middle and conclusion. It's very much like ripping the last 10 pages from a book. Return of the Jedi, however, is a different case. All of the joy and wonderment of the first film is gone. In its place is bad dialogue, a keyboard-playing blue-elephantine-muppet, cuddly Ewoks for the five-and-under crowd, and a trite feel-good ending that left anybody with half of a brain feeling ripped off. The biggest preconception about this so-called saga is that it should be viewed in order from Episodes 1-6. Too bad that all of the surprises revealed in 4-6 will be already be known to the audience, lessening the experience for anyone who is new to the films. And did we even need Episodes 1 and 2? Those two films were completely unnecessary, unless you really give a crap about Gungans, Intergalactic Trade, and the Royal Palace of Naboo. George could have kept the story tighter and more interesting by skipping right to Episode 3 and therefore sparing us of Jar-Jar and lines of dialogue like "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth." Originally posted by El-Kabong Even if it's a weak movie (which it aint), it's still got the best space combat scene ever committed to film. |
While ANH is pretty stand alone, ESB really does need some sort of resolution. I can't justify selling the second part from what ESB left off at no matter how much you try to rationalize it.
All of the joy and wonderment of the first film is gone. In its place is bad dialogue, The prequels have nothing to do with the trilogy we are talking about right here and now. Regardless of how crappy they were you do not need to them to get the resolution that occurs after ESB. So just because of that reason alone it's pretty important to keep ROTJ. either that, or you could resolve your issues with lucas the SPACED way... http://img6.exs.cx/img6/9797/diffferenceinopinion.jpg |
I don't think Wannabe will have any trouble at all selling these. I don't plan on buying the set, but I will obtain a copy of the Bonus Disc.

No, what is the point of buying something to just sell it? Ask a stupid question, get a similar answer.

"I used to shoot wamp rats with my t-17 back home" and blue milk isn't much above a B-movie if you ask me. Regardless of how crappy they were you do not need to them to get the resolution that occurs after ESB. All of the joy and wonderment of the first film is gone. That scene was weak, unimaginitive, and repetitive. Sort of like your comments - a weaker rehash of comments previously stated in this thread. |
