This is just more prejudice against the poor little technology challenged Ewoks, and that's just sad. They helped out against the storm troopers out of the goodness of their furry little hearts, and gave Warwick Davis his fabulous screen debut. Give 'em some props man, and keep the disc!

i will come to the defense of the original poster. if you dont like the film, get rid of the film. there is no point in him keeping a movie he doesnt want. the collector mentality of DVDs have gotten nuts. the guy doesnt like the movie, if he can get a few bucks for it then cool, break up that mint box set with the perfect corners and just keep what you want.

as for people getting mad about another worthless star wars post, they all become pretty worthless because fanboys dont like to be told their beloved sucks, and lucas bashers dont like fanboys. its like a michael moore thread, it always goes to the same place and becomes worthless.

Agreed and agreed. It's your DVD set, do whatever you want to with it... Why people choose to collect shit that they don't like is beyond me. But, whatever makes each individual happy, that's all that matters.

Myself, no interest in Star Wars at all... And I'm not Lucas bashing here, the films no longer interest me - Also, yup, I do read the SW threads from time to time, kinda like enjoying a nice train wreck. So no... I won't need to get rid of ROTJ. :p

Well good for you.

I won't be doing any such thing.

Bluebomber 09-15-04 07:22 PM

Nope keeping it with the others

Exactly! No way I am getting rid of it.

If this is a threadcrap, then so be it - but this is the stupidest idea I've ever seen, this is the lamest thread I've ever had this misfortune to read, and I feel stupider for just being here.

Self-realization can come at unexpected times.

You know what's wrong with this place? DVDTalkers don't exaggerate enough when they reply to posts.

I haven't even decided if I'm buying the set yet, but if I do, I will keep all the discs. Even though with each "upgrade" it gets harder & harder to sit through the entire movie, there are still enough bits I like that I would keep it. As was mentioned, the end space battle is pretty exciting & cool. I much prefer the Empire saber duel, but the Jedi one certainly has moments. I find Vader's transformation moving. I don't mind the Ewoks so much. The bad miming at Jabba's palace is much harder to take. Though surrounded by mostly lame creatures, Jabba is a great character & incredible puppetry. I like the Yoda scene. For some reason I like Akbar...

Mike Lowrey 09-15-04 08:04 PM

Hell, forget all this crap. I just can't wait to see this trilogy in its remastered and restored form.

Bru 09-15-04 08:20 PM

personally I like all 3 equally. I dont see one as a stand out of the three. unless I picked A New Hope because it was the first and started it all.

this is a dumb thread.

Kerborus 09-15-04 09:38 PM

Bru - I agree.

ROTJ has been copied and mimicked by dozens of other films trying to be like it. It's hard to top the emotion when Vader and Luke fight, and the emporer is like the highlight of the movie to me! Ewoks were the comedy relief and I have always enjoyed the Endor battle.

Great flick!

Dabaomb 09-15-04 09:54 PM

Not in a million years.

I actually liked this one cuz I liked the Ewoks and the final light sabre battle.

Plus, I'm a completionist so getting rid of this is out of the question.

Who are these theoretical people that'll pay you $10-15 for these discs?

As you said, you can get the whole set of 4 discs for under $40. Why would someone pay you $15 for single discs in the set? Think about it... that would mean that there's someone out there who (a) wants the bonus disc but (b) doesn't want the movies themselves. Does that make any sense?

Or someone who wants to buy RotJ for $15, but has no interest in the other films? Again, I think the audience for that is pretty limited.

[That being said, I certainly understand your desire to not keep discs that you don't enjoy. If you honestly won't watch them again, definitely toss 'em... I just don't see you being able to pull in $20-30 for those 2 discs. There's no customer base for them.]

I can see making money off of the bonus disc (those people who are standing their ground by not purchasing the set, and want the originals.)

Not only am I selling ROTJ, I'm also selling the 3rd disc in the Season 4 Stargate SG-1 box set , I'm ditching special features disc from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and I'm putting an ad in the classifieds for the B side of my Ford Fairlane flipper(full screen, bah!).

Jackskeleton 09-15-04 10:19 PM

I really don't see the logic in it. Your box set will be one slot empty. just baffles the mind.

rotfl Good one!

Seriously though, the OP is getting a lot of crap for this post. While I wouldn't have started a thread for it, I will stick up for his decision. If he doesn't want Jedi, let him sell it! I don't think he'll get $15, but he might - there are a lot of suckers buying stuff on ebay. ;)

Hey, I don't like Jedi either (well, sometimes I find myself watching the first half, but then I shut it off. I just don't like the 2nd half of the movie, so shoot me.), and if the trilogy was available separately, I wouldn't buy it. Seriously! Just ANH and ESB for me.

I'm probably one of the few people not buying the boxset anyway, so I don't care either way. I can't even believe I posted in this thread. I try not to get sucked into these things. Geez.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Oh, he'll get plenty of takers - it won't be tough to unload any of the discs on its own. It sounds weird, but I'm sure there are lots of folks who only like "Jedi"...

Thanks a lot! Please send it to my Paypal account..I think $20 should cover it.

Or people who happen to damage or lose that particular disc. I'm sure there will be plenty of takers.

Sorry, that's incredibly faulty logic. When you watch Episode I do you then immediately watch II? When you watch ANH, will you then immediately watch Empire and Jedi to see what happens? Obviously not. OP has seen Jedi, and he doesn't want to see it again. He knows what happens, so what will be gained by keeping it on the shelf?
