I received my replacement OST within 12 days. It's brand new and factory sealed. Not bad for the fast turn around

Has anyone seen any Reviews of V2 ? I have the first but I don't know if I want to invest in this one.
Is it just as good?

The disc is in the mail to me now...I should get it in a few days. Look for a review sometime next week. Sorry I couldn't get it up before the release date, but DVDTalk received its copy a little late.

My Best Buy didn't even place the mislabeled copies on the shelves at all on release date. This last Tuesday though, they had already stocked the fixed versions with marked-out UPCs on the title stickers on top of the cases.

Best Buy still has defective copies.

Just purchased the 3 disc special edition yesterday here in Manhattan and its still the uncorrected version. The Dolby Digital and DTS discs have switched disc art. Basically what I paid for, except they're mislabeled. Not sure if I want to send it back to Bandai or leave it. At least the data on the discs themselves is not defective.

They only sent corrected copies of the single-disc DD 5.1 edition to stores. The 3-disc set has all of the content listed on the case, just switched labels on the discs, so Bandai came to the conclusion that it wasn't cost effective to recall that version.

You can still exchange it...if you choose.

That may be true, but if anyone is a stickler for such matters you can contact them and exchange it:

I'm comtemplating whether to send in the V.2 SE for exchange. The official press release tells you to send in everything. On the other hand, some Bandai CS tells you to send in just the discs.

Also, do they send replacement back in sleeves or protective cases? The least I want is to have the replacement discs scratched on their way back. Although the SE discs are mislabeled, at least they are in pristine condition.

I haven't bought It yet. It seems stupid to go through all that trouble. I'll probably cave, and buy it sometime before the next volume (3) is released.

How many volumes in all will there be?

I sort-of like the show, mostly because I like the concept and both of the Mamoru Oshii movies, but it's not grabbing me as much as I'd hoped.

That's a good question, and I don't think anybody's gotten a straight answer out of Bandai or Manga yet.

But there's 2 seasons of 26 episodes each, so if they keep going at their current pace of 4 episodes/volume, they'll end up with 13 volumes. It's pretty unlikely they'll keep doing 4 per disc, if only because that'll put the season split in the middle of a volume, but expect double-digit volumes.

I'm pretty sure they've said there will be 7 volumes total for the first season. I'd expect the episode count to be 4-4-4-4-4-3-3, and then the same thing again for the second season.

Which is really lame, as there's more than enough room for five episodes on a few discs to make it a 6 disc set.

What is going to be in the SE sets next? they've used up both soundtracks from the first season now.

For those that don't like it yet... well, I don't know if you ever will. There's a couple of great episodes coming up in the next set mind you... but then is slows down a fair bit, before a great last few episodes, and a really really disapointing final one. Just IMHO.

Actually, V.1 and V.2 SE contain the OST 1 CD and Be Human CD (a mini-album) respectively. The OST 2 CD has not been announced as a bundle with any future SE yet.

V.3 SE will have a T-shirt.

The 2nd OST is from the second season. I said they used up both soundtracks from the first season... which is true. Those two are both the soundtracks from the first season, and both have been used.

Japan got a couple of nice bonus DVDs that were sold seperatly, they had some nice things on them. I would like to see those as opposed to some t shirt...

Just wanted to mention that the future volumes MSRP's for the SE's have now been listed at $34.99 at various online retailers. That's a sigh of relief considering that $40 for the DTS and a T-Shirt is pushing it even for anime DVD's.

I've always been getting these SEs for 32 dollars CDN in a B&M store (which is about 26 dollars US.) Hopefully they'll get even cheaper now

Any pictures of the t-shirt? How do they plan on fitting that in the DVD case? :P

No pic of the T-shirt, but the slip case looks thick enough to accomodate the shirt.

Ha. Crap. Well, I maybe I'll start taking my DVDs out of the slip cases then... so much space seems like a waste for a shirt

According to AOD, GITS:SAC Special Edition V.4 and V.5 have dropped from $49.95 to $34.95, perhaps indicating the absence of any more premiums such as CD.

Ok. Here is the picture of the T-shirt in V.3 SE (shown on the side of the box). Basically it looks the same as the DVD cover.

really not thrilled with volume 1. Bad scripting. Bad dialogue. But the animation was better than most made-for-tv animation. That is true. Too be the extra effort was spent on this.
