Well I just registered to break the silence on this package, and here's the deal since I bought it yesterday:

Every disc is the same exact previously released disc, except for "Born on the 4th of July" which is the new special edition disc. Also the set only contains the 1st disc of any 2 disc set. So that means The Doors, JFK, Nixon, and Any Given Sunday only are Disc 1. The Natural Born Killers dvd in this set is the R-rated edition, but I'm not totally bothered since it does include the deleted scenes and alternate ending.

As for the anamorphic issue, here's where things get fuzzy from me. I don't own a widescreen TV so I really can't tell you whether Nixon or The Doors is now anamorphic. Being as the artwork on the discs is the same as before (the Nixon disc is just plain silver except for the title "NIXON" and The Doors has Val Kilmer the label "disc 1" on it), my guess would be they are not anamorphic...

But to make matters even MORE confusing, the booklet contained in the set lists Nixon and the Doors as "16x9 enhanced 2:40." This is most likely a printing error, but I really just can't confirm this for myself. Someone else has got to have this set?

Despite them dropping the 2nd discs of the special editions, I don't regret buying it. I'm a fan of most of his films, and after seeing Talk Radio last night for the first time I must say that I loved it. Personally I probably would only watch the 2nd disc supplements about once so it's not a total loss for me. Still, this should have been the definitive release of Oliver Stone's collection.

Is the Nixon they include the director's cut?

In all honesty, the extras on the sets back in 01 were good, but not stuff you would watch more than once IMO.

Set your DVD player for 16:9. If the picture looks stretched vertically, they are anamorphic. If it looks exactly the same, they're non-anamorphic.

Ah thanks, and it turns out they are not anamorphic. Doh. And yes, Nixon is the director's cut (I think its like 28 added minutes of footage).

So to sum up its the same discs as before (minus any 2nd discs for a movie), except for "Born on the 4th of July" and the new documentaries that are included on the 14th disc.

Good lord, you think that somebody would get with the program and update Doors and Nixon already!

it says

Born On The Fourth Of July: Featured on this disc is a commentary from Stone, some basic production notes, and some cast and filmmaker biographies. Considering what a big deal this movie was when it was released theatrically I honestly expected there to be more on this disc. Some of the supplements from the recently two disc special edition from Universal would have been very welcome, but that didn’t happen.

1-there's no 2 dics set exist from universal.

2-the special edition released lately is included.

DVD Authority has a review of BOTFOJ, and the review refers to it as a "two-disc special edition." However, the info about the supplements in the review just describes the supplements on the recently released special edition, which is one disc.

Why are people thinking there is a two-disc version?

Also odd in that review:
"This is the second documentary that Stone has made on the intriguing subject of Fidel Castro (following Commandante which is suspiciously absent from this set)."

There's nothing suspicious about it (other than the misspelling). HBO refused to release 'Comandante' in the USA, and forced Stone to re-imagine it [just after it showed at Sundance, Castro cracked down on a bunch of dissidents, and the country got a lot more anti-Cuba, so HBO wanted Stone to get Castro to discuss why this had happened], which became (with some additional shooting) 'Looking For Fidel'.
