Paramount has informed us that the revised street date for their delayed Star Trek: Generations - Special Collector's Edition is 9/28. But judging by the e-mails we've been getting, plenty of copies are now available on store shelves despite the recall. Keep in mind that the only difference between these two releases will be the wording of the spec list on the back of the packaging- the actual discs are the same. Consider yourself warned. We don't want you getting ripped off on eBay or anything

Got mine at Wal-mart, the shelves were full of them.

Booya! Got mine at Borders at Ward Centre. They still had it in the box. No problem buying it. $14.99.

Eh, my WalMart didn't have it, but I can wait 3 more weeks. between Clerks x, Star Wars and this it's an expensive month anyway.

This is the first time that this happened for the series SE's.

Got a copy at Best Buy. Don't give a rat's ass about the packaging mistake, but I didn't want to wait 3 weeks to watch it either .

If anyone is interested it's the BB on Dale Mabry in Tampa, FL. They had about 5-6 copies left after I got mine.

Found this at BJ's as well for $11.99. Item number is 631180. It was mixed in with the other new releases in the middle of the isle.

i was at best buy today buying 'night of the demons' and they have a crap load of those star treks..the best buy in front of tropical park in miami florida if anyone is interested..

So has anyone who wanted it NOT been able to find it yet?

I found it at Best Buy in Fullerton. I picked up a copy and saw another copy on the shelf.

Interestingly enough, I couldn't find Clerks X! Best Buy didn't have any, and Target didn't have any. Target also didn't have any widescreen copies of The Ladykillers, though they had plenty of shelf space for it.

I went to my local Wal-Mart on Tuesday and they had none. (They also had no copies of Clerks X.)

In fact, the dude there was so clueless, when I asked about Star Trek: Generations, he pointed towards the Original Series Season 1 DVD set. I told him, “no; Star Trek: Generations. It’s a Star Trek movie that was to be released today.” He said he would check his “list,” but after supposedly doing so, he claimed he could find nothing about it (or Clerks). Ah, the joys of shopping at Wally World….

I also checked Target, CD Warehouse (just because it was convenient; didn’t really expect them to have it), and Tower Records. No one had it. Tower Records was indeed aware of the recall and had complied by sending their stock back.

Because of my work schedule, I have simply not had a chance to look at other retailers. I am planning to go check at Best Buy and another Wal-Mart today (I’ll hit Circuit City too if I have the time), but I’m not holding my breath at this point.

Is anyone who was able to find this having problems? Mine freezes up about an hour into the movie.

I wouldn't bother with Circuit City. The computer won't let you buy it and even the store manager can't do anything about it.

Borders was cool. They had no clue.

And I haven't watched the whole movie yet but no problems so far on my JVC XV-523GD.

i bought mine tonight after work at walmart and got home an the 1st disc was loose but nothingdamaged to bad. But there was no insert.
This is the 1st star trek SE i have bought so far, and was wondering if the other star trek SE's also do not have any inserts. This ticks me off that there is no insert even for a SE dvd.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture through Star Trek V had inserts. By the time VI came out, Paramount had stopped putting inserts in their releases.

I finally watched this disc yesterday and was pretty iimpressed by the DTS track . . . WAY better than the SE Star Trek discs.

I watched about two hours of the special features and again, was impressed by the content. Although I'm not sure why:
I've picked up all the Trek SE movies so far and although I don't want to pick a favorite, this disc certain made an impression.

Oh yeah . . . (back on topic) . . . K-Mart $14.99

I just picked up a copy at BJ's too. They had about a dozen copies.

Got it at Circuit City in Fort Lauderdale (US 1, near Sunrise Blvd). Customer service had to ring it up, and they could only ring it up as a "service charge," not the actual DVD. Still some left in the sci-fi section (not in "new releases"). It's in the sale flyer this week, so make sure you have that with you during check-out because this totally confused the customer service wenches.

Looked in two cities worth of stores - Circuit City, Best Buy, & Walmart - not a copy to be found. Circuits & BBs both cited memos they got telling them to not put them out. Walmarts said they never had them.

But if they'll be out in 3 weeks, I can wait.

Me. I saw it at my local Future Shop on Tuesday but didn't buy it as I was waiting for an unadvertised sale at Best Buy today. Lo an behold, BB didn't have it and FS had pulled it from the shelves when I went back. To top it all off, amazon.ca jacked the price up another $1.50 (although they say they ship within 3-4 days). I guess I'll have to wait until the 28th.

I just wanted the commentary for this and at times it seems like the writters hated this movie and something they didn't even get.
They didn't seem to know for sure if Kirk was in the Nexas(sp?) for 80 years or just got there. They say in the movie he just got there, that there is no time in the Nexas (SP?)
