I spotted one at Media Play. $27.99. Sounded like both discs were floaters.

smurr5 11-03-05 07:50 PM

Got mine from DDD today. # 2312 -Both discs were floating with mild surface scratches But both played with no problems. The print does look quite good, though this is some sick stuff! Thanks for the info on the easter eggs-

Hey got mine from Digitaleyes.net the other day! 86 / 11111 and NO FLOATERS!! Lucky me! Now if I can just find time to check it out!

Father Karras 11-04-05 06:54 AM

I guess I got lucky. I received my set from DDD in perfect condition. No floaters.

DVDMagic 11-04-05 03:35 PM

I got mine from DDD yesterday and even though disc 2 was slightly loose, there appears to be no damage yet. Incidentally I have #1800.

To the folks here that received scratched discs, here is a reply I got from my e-mail to Grindhouse:

Dear Michael,

Thanks for your e-mail. We had a very difficult time getting this title manufactured in the US. The job was rejected by every major printer. Therefore, we had no choice but to have the packaging manufactured outside of the US, at great expense. Unfortunately, it looks like some of the units have the problem you are describing. This is especially difficult to deal with since it is a limited, numbered edition. Please provide me with your address and I will send you replacement discs immediately.

Thanks,

Bob Murawski

 to Grindhouse!

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Good to see the support from Grindhouse.

I see this is title #4? What's the other three they've released?

Giles 11-04-05 10:12 PM

well one was 'Make Them Die Slowly (Cannibal Ferox).

Along with Ferox, The Beyond and I Drink Your Blood.

I've loved all their releases and hope that there's still time to get a copy of this one.

Giles 11-04-05 11:56 PM

I thought The Beyond was Anchor Bay

They cut open a live turtle, dissect it, and eat it. It's your call if that counts as graphic.

The BBFC passed off the extensive cuts list with the comment: Cuts required to scenes involving real cruelty to animals and to eroticised sexual violence:
Spoiler:

-The killing of a muskrat has been deleted.
-Our intrepid adventurers witness the riverside murder and mutilation of a woman presumably by her husband. We don't get to witness:
-The girl being dragged through the mud and having her legs forced apart.
-The girl struggling and being raped with a wooden dildo.
-The man raising a mudball with spikes and the subsequent shot of genital mutilation.
The following has also been cut:
-Another woman getting raped on the river bank has been removed.
-The disembowelling of a giant turtle has been predictably deleted.
-A monkey gets his head sliced open and its blood is drained into a bowl.
-The kicking of a tethered pig has been removed.
-The rape one of the adventurers by her companians has been reduced.
-The cannibals eventually overpower the adventurers.
-The woman in the party gets stripped and raped.
-The womans death scene is missing nudity shots.
that defently seems like its really nasty

Had a question about one of the scenes:

Spoiler:
The scene where the woman was being raped with a wooden dildo in the in the mud, what was the deal with the ball of mud with the spikes? Was that being shoved up her vagina, or was it to mutilate her genitals? And that was the guy's wife, right? It seemed that the "natives" being raped all looked Italian, at least to me. And lots of bush.

Spoiler:
yea I believe that was the guys' wife or at least obviously a woman from the tribe. i know it was mentioned during that scene that she was either being punished for her infidelity or losing her pure nature through a sexual act. i could be wrong, ive yet to give the movie a 2nd viewing since I got it. also I believe that spiked mud ball was being shoved into her. some of the natives I guess looked like natives, and some looked flat out italian, like the girl you mentioned, and some of the girls that were in the scene where the tree people tried to fight the swamp people

Heat 11-06-05 09:50 PM

Speaking of that scene:
Spoiler:
With the actress being Italian, I thought for a long time in the movie that it would turn out that that woman was the missing female journalist, and the searchers would realize that they had let her be killed. But it was an Italian actress playing a native.

What I thought was kinda funny was...

Spoiler:
They covered the actress with mud to make her look like a native but where the mud get smudged or washed away, you can tell she wasn't a real native

All this talk, and I completely forgot about this title. I read through the post yesterday and went out to Borders to snag a copy. They had 2 on the shelf one sounded like a maraca (00081/11,111) so I grabbed the other one (00770/11,111). Lucky me, no floaters both discs were snuggly on their hubs.

The Bus 11-08-05 09:46 AM

Had my order come in from Amazon. The DVD case looks great once you take the slipcover off. Had a floater but could see no damage.

Julie Walker 11-08-05 10:50 AM

I picked up a copy from a Borders on Sunday # 11,030!

On Saturday night at another Borders. We located two copies behind the glass dvd collectors case. We asked to see what the prices were, then noticed the disc rattling in the case. So the clerk said he'd open them up to look over. The first set had the second disc look, but no scratches on either disc. So my friend decided to buy it since it's becoming very scarce. He got 30% off it since the clerk gave him a coupon, and thus paid $22 with tax. It was priced at full retail originally.

I looked at the second copy, and unfortunately the second dvd had some really bad scratches on it. So I declined risking the purchase. Since despite the clerk saying they could always reorder the disc and replace it. He did a search of the stores distributor inventory and the disc was now unavailable!

The copy I found at another borders was on 'sale' for $24 and came to $26 with tax. But I bought it anyway, since most online places are running low. The second disc was also loose, but neither were scratched. So I bought it.

I did have a 'funny' check out experiance though. Some conservative uptight looking lady was at the register and said she could help me since the other registers were busy. Then she sees the cover and asks snottily "You want a bag?" and I said "yes please". Then a clerk next to her chimes in "You must have a stronger stomach than me to be buying that!" and laughs. Then continues "I only got 45 minutes into the film, once they shoved that pole through that woman,I turned it off since I was so disturbed!" and the lady was now revolted. I replied maturely with "Yes it is a disturbing film, but is extremely well made,so I have no qualms about owning it...though it is not something to watch often". The clerk agreed and said "Thats true, but its kind of like I Spit On Your Grave,a watch only once type of film, since its so unsettling". The lady then finished processing the transaction with a look of disgust on her face. She wouldn't even hand me the receipt and worriedly tossed it over the dvd cover. Then through her hands up in disgust with an "EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW get that away from me" look on her face. I was stumped for a moment wondering "Where's my bag?" then I realized what was going on(she thinks horror is 'evil' and 'corrupting' thus wants to stay away from it at all costs)..laughed to myself...took the dvd and left the store.

You should have taken the slip cover off 'on accident' and shown it to her. That would've made her day :)

Julie Walker 11-08-05 02:47 PM

Yes I could have since the dvd was not sealed since I asked a clerk to please open it,since the discs sounded loose. :)

It was interesting to say the least on Saturday night looking at the inside of the packaging with its graphic photo of the impaled lady in public. But since it was later,no one was around to really see and be offended. The clerk was curious though and said the film looked freaky, but wasn't offended.

Digital Groove 11-08-05 04:32 PM

Woah, it's rare meeting someone who has heard of Cannibal Holocaust or I Spit On Your Grave let alone someone who has seem both (sorta)! I would have been very impressed. Was it a female? cause if so that's a marriage proposal on the spot!
