Yes, you do. Disney has released un-numbered non-tin versions of their Treasures releases (same exact discs) to Costco stores.

Really? That's strange, because I actually bought the last set of tins from Costco, and they were all numbered. Where did you hear about this? Is it just at some Costco stores?

I didn't say Costco only sold the unnumbered non-tin versions...

Where did you hear about this?
From this website, among others. Try doing a Google search.

just to clarify...the costco set was all of the disc cannibalized from tins returned because of damage, dents, and dings...

either way i think this is screwy

What a brilliant tie-in!

I'm curious to know what the new packaging is too. If it's a keepcase, then I'd much rather have that. My problem is, I received my copy yesterday from DDD and part of the digi-tray was cracked off. Both discs were floaters too, just for the record. Fortunately, neither had any scratches. But if I contact Grindhouse for a new case, will they want the discs back too? Because I'm not too confident I'll get unscratched discs the second go-round.

The outer artwork looks the same as the current artwork only with "Deluxe" instead of "collectors" on the cover. I wonder if the actual disc is in a keepcase or still in a digipack?

And some are criticizing others for being 'giving Grindhouse a free pass' on this sneaky double dip. But I have to admit I am alittle upset. If only because no information about a nonlimited release was mentioned. And at best, I would have expected the nonLE to be released sometime later on. Like what happened with their I Drink Your Blood release which came out over a year after the limited 500 run.

I would have then waited on picking it up otherwise since I'm very strapped for cash right now. But since it's priced the exact same as the LE release. I don't feel to bad since it would cost me the same amount I paid for it most likely.

I just noticed something. I just received my LE copy from DVDEmpire and the slipcover number is 7521. The disc case inside is labelled Deluxe edition. Perhaps this means that the Deluxe edition will be the same as the limited edition with the exception of the slipcover.

I too noted that on the spine of the digipak inside that DELUXE EDITION was written on the spine. Its sounding like the only difference will be the slipcover.

Disappointing if so - if the re-releases was a plain amaray it would make the LE more special.

Just got mine through XPloited Cinema

I ordered it last Friday night (after a fiasco with Overstock.com) and it arrived yesterday (Wednesday).

I got #2411.

This is wierd. I received my copy from DDD a few weeks ago. On the slipcover front and spine, it says '25th Anniversary Collector's Edition'. On the lower right corner on the back of the slipcover, is a white rectangle. The first half of it is blank. "(blank) / 11,111". It also has "Limited Edition" in small letters in the white rectangle. On the inside case's spine, it says Deluxe Edition.

counpk39 11-28-05 09:09 PM

Does this new edition have a release date or other specs yet? Some sites have the date listed as 11/29, others have a date of 12/13 and 12/20. Are we completely sure that the new one will have all of the same features?

Digital Groove 11-28-05 09:31 PM

Well, I've seen this 3 times since I've gotten it. Just watched it a couple days ago with my girl cause she wanted to see something messed up.

And we both agreed it wasn't that shocking. When I first got it I waited like 4 years since I first saw it and it didn't live up to the "controversy" I recalled. It's not even that disturbing to me. Only scenes that could be are the obvious rape scene and the box cover. The animal deaths are more bothersome than controversial or disturbing. IT pisses me off they did this for the movie (yes I know they let the natives eat them afterwards), wasn't needed. Anyway that's just how I feel. I didn't include spoiler tags because I assume everyone reading this thread has either seen these pics or heard of those scenes already.

Picked up a DE over there today. Cost $29.99.

In case you CE guys wanted to know, It's a clear keepcase with the "pole" shot behind the coverart. Only thing that's floating is the insert.

Oh and is this release limited too? I see a "004" on the spine and was wondering.

I believe the 004 is the catalog number for the release. Meaning it's the 4th release that Grindhouse has put out. I might be wrong.

the DE is not the limited edition one, the CE is. it is the 2nd pressing that is not limited #'ed.
