Rambo Trilogy question

I was looking to purchase the OOP Rambo Trilogy on half.com. I found 2 versions of it. One version is a 4 disc set and the other is a 6 disc set. Does anyone know the difference between the two?

You might want to just wait for the new set with the extended cuts.

Is it for sure that Rambo II & III will be extended cuts as well? I only heard about First Blood.

No, it was just speculation.

The 4 disc set is the authentic US release of Rambo Trilogy Special edition with Tin, which includes three Rambo movies plus a bonus dvd. The 6 disc set would not be an authentic US release.

Really? I didn't know anything about an extended release box set coming out.

I did know that Rambo: Part II did have an extended TV cut. One such scene I remember was what happened after Rambo cut himself loose fromt the jetplane with the parachute ride down the the ground and him "gathering himself together" on the ground, before we see him running up that rocky stream.

I thought only a new version of the first movie with the extended cut will come out. I didn't know there would be a new boxset (I don't mind since I don't have the now OOP set).

I don't own the tin, but I know First Blood 1 and 2 are both 2-disc sets (1 disc each for widescreen and 4:3). That's four discs right there, not counting Rambo III.

IIRC, the tin set had both the 4:3 version and the 16:9 version of each film on the same double-sided disc.

D'oh! Well as with the new Rocky set, this better be a stellar release for me to upgrade. Better packaging, worthwile extas, and fixed subtitles at least.

Good call... but I'll wait to hear the specs. If it loses any of the better extras and/or drops the DTS tracks, I may pass.

I recall reading that the reason for the new set is because they found footage from First Blood of Rambo killing himself... so they thought a new release was in order.

Well, that'll make the two sequals questionable.

This is not the OOP metal case version, isn't it? I didn't pick up the metal case version while I could.

I saw a mention of Stallone Commentary one one of the retailer sites, but I didn't see a mention of DTS tracks. As far as I know, the UEs are single discs [meaning no 4:3 version].

This cover is pretty daring for a studio.

Mike, yes. Was Rambo fighting for the Taliban? Or were his friends their immediate predecessors? Did he meet Osama Bin Laden? Did the cute little kid grow up to be a terrorist?
