You are going to have a hard time convincing somebody its a boot. Just because the case is a different color does not make it a boot.
Its possible that (a) It did indeed come in a black case (b) Person replaced the case for some reason and took everything else. |
Thanks everyone.
Right now I am attempting to exchange emails with the seller, since he is wanting to work this whole thing out. I hope he will send me a refund, but we haven't got to negotiating that yet. My girlfriend paid for more than half of the DVD, so for now I will give her back the money she put in for it (since it was for her), out of my own pocket, until I figure all of this out. gbub, I do also find it weird that the DVD has the same inner ring numbers that one of the other posters mentioned, seemed to go rather far for just some boot. Disney needs to start putting out their "classics" on DVD again. The bootlegging is getting out of control. |
Hold on! Late breaking news!
Guy is buying empty cases! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5112928462 And shrinkwrap http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=4031898678 Now, two theories: a.) He burned his original disc, didn't have the case and sold you the original in a different case b.) its a boot. I would go with (A) because it seems that the inner ring numbers would not be something that any bootlegger would care about. He also sold a Jungle Book as NEW. Sounds like you got sold an original DVD in a re-shrinkwrapped case. Demand your money back if you aren't happy with it, otherwise keep it |
Thanks Chanster.
I also thought that inner ring numbers were too small of a detail for any bootlegger to worry about, also when I got the "rewrapped" DVD, it had the DVD sticker (long) on the top of the DVD case itself, so I'm not sure what that means. I am going over my girlfriends tomorrow, and she watches all her movies on her computer, so if it doesn't play then I'll figure out what to do next. |
Originally posted by asianxcore -it was sealed, had the lady and the tramp seal on top of the DVD. it came in a BLACK case which made it fishy. It didn't have an insert for a free DVD. All of the Disney "Limited Issue" DVDs came in white cases. If it was unsealed, I could postulate that the case was replaced at some point for some reason. Still sealed in a black case? No way that is legit. |

No way that is legit. one of the other posters, posted that this guy was buying baggies to shrinkwrap stuff in on ebay. we'll see what this guy has to say via-email since he was eager on trying to help me out. so hopefully it will be solved in the least ugly way possible. |
Here is a site that has a lot of good details on how to deal with bootleggers.

Thanks to everyone for all the help. The seller is responding to emails really quick and is already mentioning a full refund. Hopefully we can work something out.

Even if you get a refund report him to the authorities all bootleggers need to hang.
|
The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is that the bootlegger went through all the trouble of making the rounded edges, insert, disc art, etc.... to make the disc look 100% authentic, but puts it in a black case?
