Pirates of the Caribbean 3 disc set?

Was going through the preorders, and saw this:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...159855-6470219

Did I miss an announcement, or is this a repackaged double dip?

matome 08-25-04 10:29 AM

Curious about this as well.

ruk 08-25-04 10:32 AM

yes there is an SE version ( 3 disk edition) comming out

Morf 08-25-04 11:03 AM

Hmm. Any details on what is on this set? I love the flick, and depending on what extras are included, I may just have to double dip.

CKMorpheus 08-25-04 11:05 AM

I knew I held out on buying the original release for a reason.

darmok 08-25-04 11:14 AM

those dirty apes!!!

fumanstan 08-25-04 11:18 AM

I never heard any announcements about a new release... especially with it coming out in Nov, i would have thought we'd hear about it by now.

fryinpan1 08-25-04 11:18 AM

If this is true, why would they not just wait until the sequels?

And you heard this where? Share!

matome 08-25-04 11:26 AM

DVDempire has it listed as well for 11-2. No specs though.

Is this a "tricked out" edition?

Shouldn't the brains at Disney wait for the sequel before releasing this?

nah, they can just triple dip when the sequal comes out.

I've never watched the extras on the 2-discer, so no reason for me to upgrade if this pans out.

chipmac 08-25-04 01:56 PM

I'll upgrade if the transfer is improved and the EE has been eliminated.

Pelayu 08-25-04 02:42 PM

wow! I'm glad I've just given my copy away...Will be picking up this one for sure.

Pardon me for asking, but if you gave your copy away, why on earth would you want to buy it again?

as a present

Skyler 08-25-04 03:41 PM

Watch them take away the DTS.

taronga 08-25-04 06:01 PM

Hometheaterinfo.com has some specs, but so far it sounds exactly like the current release.

LBCrazyFool 08-25-04 06:29 PM

I wonder if the 3rd disc is just the soundtrack to the movie?

mdc3000 08-25-04 07:36 PM

blatant disney cash grab... unless they do something substantial I'm certainly not upgrading (and i've barely watched the extras on the 2 disc, so it'd have to be like extended kiera knightly nude scenes to make the 3 discer a purchase for me)

I don't think it's going to be worthy to upgrade, I already find the 2-disc to have plenty of extras. The commentaries, deleted scenes, and all the behind the scenes is great enough.

That's my guess too.

Probably due to the horrid video transfer.

catracho 08-25-04 09:54 PM

The 2 disc set is ENOUGH for me
