I just found out this was coming out! Sheesh. I’ve got a VHS copy of this that gets more play that my copies of Lone Wold and Cub. I am STOKED!!! This is my favorite dub for a movie that I’ve ever heard. Classic.

I think the Supreme Ninja has some of the best dialogue:

“Mmmmmwould ju like to SEE?!”

And the classic mutilation of the

neck cut Brother of Death’s
final line.
Spoiler:
"When cut across the neck, a sound like rushing winter winds is heard, they say. I'd always hoped to cut somebody like that. To hear that sound. ...But. To have it happen to my own neck. ...is...Ri - Diculous!!! *rollrollroll* *SSSSPLORT*"

I am so on this one. Such good times this version has brought me.

OMFG!!! They BETTER use the original dubbing and soundtrack!

A lot of cool history on this thread. For instance, I had no idea that Corman was responsible for this. Between this and Death Race 2000, he has now become one of my official heroes.

I can now finally get rid of my PAL version w/ the weird aspect ratio. Every time I play it I have to mess with the x/y scaling.

I had this on order for a couple of weeks now. I did a blind buy on "LW&C:SOV", and decided since the two films are closely related, what the hell.

i got this dvd a few weeks back. it is almost like watching a brand new movie. the picture is fantastic (except for a few seconds here and there of some footage that could not be restored). the dubbing remains the same as the original. ENJOY!!!!!!

no problem.

some of the shots are reframed according to what animeigo had available, but it still kicks much ass in terms of quality as compared to the bootleg or the PAL dvd.

what they mean is that they were not able to REMASTER the soundtrack. This means the soundtrack will remain the same quality as the bootleg or pal version.

Question for anyone who has seen the new Animego release: Is Shogun Assassin closed-captioned?

That's really going to determine whether I buy this or not.

I picked this up at ComicCon this weekend and got a free poster too! Can't wait to finally revisit this one after 20 odd years.

I just bought it today at Wal-Mart for $18.63. It was a blind buy since I have never watched Shogun Assassin nor the Lone Wolf and Cub movies.

I watched it last night and loved it. Now, I have to go and buy the 6 Lone Wolf & Cub movies.

Edit - I meant 6 movies not 4.

TimeandTide, I couldn't get any captions to come up on my TV. Sorry.

BTW, I've seen the DVD at Circuit City for $9.99.
