Sounds like this is an attempt to do a "Superbit Deluxe" version of the existing disc. Take the current extras and put them on disc 2. Have no extras on disc 1, add DTS, etc.

Unless the improved picture absolutely blows me away, there's no way I'd get this. (Is there even confirmation that they will be improving the picture?) The $34.95 price tag is nuts for a repackaged version of a disc that's already been out for 3.5 years.

So what happened to the documentary Mao had heard about which, I believe, he had thought was going to be on the Superbit (now apparently barebones)?

Found two cool things about "Dr. Strangelove", though...it will include:

-All new documentary including interviews with Robert McNamara, Walter Kronkite, Bob Woodward, Leonard Maltin, mrs. stanley Kubrick, Spike Lee and others.

-Possible limited edition script with handwritten notes by Kubrick. (to be confirmed)

It will include 5.1 and dts mixes....

Is this necessary? How bad is the current edition's bitrate? One of my favorite films, but I'll pass on double dipping for this one. Remastered in high-def? Big deal. See if you can tell the difference. And the new documentaries seem like weak add-ons.

The Anniversary Edition package includes a collectible script with an essay by Roger Ebert and original production stills.

FEATURES:
-Remastered in High Definition

-“No Fighting in the War Room: Dr. Strangelove and the Nuclear Threat” All new documentary

-“Insights on the Nuclear Threat by a Political Expert” - An interview with Robert S. McNamara, Secretary of Defense under President Johnson at the time of Dr. Strangelove's original 1964 release.
