Vanilla Sky SE ???

From UPCOMING RE-RELEASES LIST (rumored and confirmed) :
Vanilla Sky (2004?, SE, COM [Crowe, Wilson], DOC)
From CameronCroweOnline: "…The other featurette "Hitting It Hard" is a 9 1/2 minute look at Cameron's world wide press tour (with Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz). The big news here is that they are also working on a longer version of this (60 - 90 minutes) which should hopefully see a release in a year or so. There was a very short window for the gang to cull everything they wanted for the DVD and it just couldn't happen. With a May 21st release, they really only had a few months to get it ready, so we can look forward to a separate DVD release of additional things (such as the longer "Hitting It Hard", deleted scenes, etc.) ala The Matrix Revisited or possibly in a Super Duper 2 Disc Special Edition (like the Untitled DVD)."
Any more word on this disc?? Thinking about picking this up at CC in their current 9.99 offering. But no way will I double dip for this even though I'd really like the added special features. I've waited this long to get it so if anyone has an idea when this might be released then I can see if I want to wait more or not.

thanks

On the bonus material to the current DVD, Crowe talks about the additional materials that will be on the future deluxe edition.

Except that flashforward to today, Cruise and Cruz are no longer a couple. It's only speculation, but maybe that took some steam out of the project. If you look at the material as a portrait of an emerging relationship, the way that Crowe talks about, than it seems like it might be kind of awkward to continue.

If it gets them to put more effort into a Special Editon of "Singles" than all will be forgiven though.

thats not the point....5 bucks or not I'd rather just wait for a SE if its ever going to be released. from the upcomming release thread I see there is word of one...but when is what I want to know.

I'd much rather just wait and put that 5 bucks toward the SE rather than have both....

I'd much rather Cameron Crowe put his efforts towards a SE of Singles, since this movie was only released in a crappy version with a dreadful full screen transfer and absolutely no extras rather than Vanilla Sky, which already contains a director's commentary, decent anamorphic transfer and a few other extras.

Spoiler:
And, just in case it matters, Singles was a much, much, much better film.

I think the current dvd is a pretty good release, plenty of good features are included.

I would probably double dip if there was an alternate/extended version or something, but i think the movie was really good as it is.

It will eventually happen. Right now Cameron is shooting Elizabethtown for Paramount so maybe they will time a Vanilla Sky re-release when that hits DVD (They are both Paramount films). I wouldn't expect anything until late 2005 at the earliest..

Thanks

Wow, so tempting to be a jackass and click report to moderator with all the threadcraps

Anyway, i think the current edition is already pretty good. A special edition would need a lot more interesting extras to make it worth it for me.

I think they mean a 60-90 minute longer version of the featurette "Hitting it Hard", not the movie, but thanks for your $0.02.

I agree that Singles would definitely be a better choice for a SE, but I for one loved Vanilla Sky and figured at some point that there would be a longer cut of the film, just like Almost Famous. If there is indeed a rerelease of this film I might consider it, but it would strongly depend on the added content.

yep, that will still happen. Crowe has tons of deleted footage, songs, etc. to include. With E-Town taking up his time, I wouldn't expect anything for Singles soon either..Probably late 2005 or 2006...

thanks

I would pay a large sum for someone just to explain this very confusing chopped up movie to me. I wanted to like this so bad but hated it more and more after numerous replays. Was there a clear cut story present?

Excellent movie, I'm definitely going to get the SE... if anyone has any info on it I would appreciate it as well.

I can't believe all the threadcraps on this, no matter what even if I hate a director or a movie I restrain from making negative posts. Unless of course they ask for opinions. From what I see nobody asked in this thread...

Ridiculous...
